    ABCD and Big Data

World wide... the four largest corporations involved in agriculture commodities are ADM, Bunge, Cargil, Dreyfus... All of them in private family holdings (Well, Bunge is publicly traded but the majority of shares are owned by about 180 people).

All widely wealthy... and very secretive.

Somebody was wondering why big data is so important and worth so much.... ABCD is your answer.

Social media has become disruptive to their business... so they have to get information faster.

Profits in the grain trade are made based on information, and having it before anybody else does.

So when you buy that new combine ,it collects data on yield and quality and sends it back to JD,or whoever and they sell that info to the highest bidder.???

We like our toys and we don't like to learn that they can be used against us.

"...And she said, We are all just prisoners here, of our own device...relax, said the night man, we are programmed to receive. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave...."
        Bwahahaha!

And it all happened while we were mesmerized by the Felder - Walsh guitar duo...

What do you think about this:

Big data tells how much of what crop went into the ground and extrapolate how much fertilizer went on.

Big data can read all the weather conditions all over the world and figure out the impact on crops, everywhere.

Big data can watch the development of crops everywhere.

Big data can likely tell you your yield before you even start the combine.

So when the USDA - or whatever - reports come out, ABCD can yawn and say old news and send another cheque to JD for affirming their figures when the combines start to roll.

If your monitor is calibrated.... it's useless information till they pay us for it. Mine is out. I have scales on the cart and could care less what the combine shows.

Same here. No way these companies are relying on ****ing yield monitors. They are using sat images probably with some ground truthing.

If they are using satellites, they would have watched the gophers run here this year - huge area.

                    You're joking right?

You think what your fombinr transmits is bushels an acre?

Are you so naiive to think that all the mfgs don't have precise calibrations for the raw data...

I've intercepted the data streams these services send... And what they send is downright scary. You have 0 privacy and 0 confidentiality.

They can tell you what variety of what crop you seeded into what kind of soil conditions. What fhem and fert rates were used what the weather was the day you sprayed. They know your phi from spray date to combine date.

If you have remote bin monitoring that data is tied into it to "proof" your world monitor.

Your results are used against ndvi and other fompex imagery analysis systems to then guess all your neighbours crop yields too.

If you have remote weighing on your grain cart... Or have your grain cart scale tied in trough isobus or CAN one more level of truthing

The amount of data collected on every acre is scary.
