    GST and grain buyers

This is a first for me. I have a grain buyer who won't cut a cheque for feed wheat to a crop share landlord of mine because the landlord doesn't have a GST number. Why do they need his GST number?

    Weird

Canary seed would have a GST payment but pretty sure feed wheat doesn't.

I've never been asked for a get # from any grain company. That sounds fishy to me

I just sold grain under a new name and wasn't asked about GST #. Where did they get that instructions. I would make CGC aware they are refusing to pay.

Far as I know, if they don't have a GST number, the grain company doesn't need to pay him GST.

The landlord doesn't need a number if his GST-able income is less than $30,000.
