He also realizes he will lose some seats in BC, combination of Transmountain approval and the new NDP leader Jagmeet Singh. He is doubling down on eastern Canadians votes at the expense of western Canada. He used the change in NEB rules to do his dirty work. Pure politics nothing to do with economics!!!!
And isn't that the big problem with politics. Let's do what it takes to get re elected instead of doing what's in the best interest of the country.

Piss off oil companies they go somewhere else. Argentina has immediate access to the ocean. No provincial infighting.

Billion in investment. Goal of energy independent within 5 years then become an exporter...

All the while idiotic holier-than-though liberals are telling us to sit on our hands and do nothing and wait.

You innovate and push boundaries or become irrelevant. That is the way of civilizations.

We created the tech to reach all this oil and gas and now all the tech talent and jobs are leaving because we are "enlightened".

It's bizzare Klause. These socialists are either so stupid they don't realize they are destroying what could be the best country in the world or they are doing it on purpose. Either way it makes me sick .

          Agreed!!!

I think they are so short sighted, and so far removed from struggles and hardships they [liberals] dont think anything but life on the easy street exists...

Somebody who has to fight to keep their families safe, clothed, and fed, doesn't have time to worry about what bathroom to use, smoking pot, what they 'identify' as, or the changing world climate [that always changes]...

It brings to mind a study from the 40s' by a Mr. John B. Calhoun: https://eprints.lse.ac.uk/22514/1/2308Ramadams.pdf

Give a population everything they want, and remove thieir stresses... first you have a population boom, followed by a generation worried only about grooming and self preservation - and they stop breeding... their society collapses.

Lots of parallels to human civilization in Western Europe and North America....

Yup , no potential problems there with environmental issues. That's a lot of sensitive fishing area these ships are going through. I guess never a chance of an Exxon Vald happening there. Probably more likely than a pipeline spill but that's ok .....
And they must be proud to support some of those countries with stellar humans rights .....
also the harm to the environment done by some of those countries?
I guess it's ok cause it's over there and not here.

Seems like getting a pipeline built is a tough task.Maybe that is why Harper never ever tried.one side says rules too tough other side say not tough enough. It would be irresponsible for government to give in to either side.bad luck the NDP took control of BC otherwise that pipeline had a chance to happen with Trudeau. The Keystone south is a wild card with the Jerry Springer show going on down there.nothing predictable.in the end as long as oil is at 50 bucks companies are going to be careful what they spend money on.

How many whales of the endangered white whale species have been hit by ships and died of blunt force trauma in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence? But I guess that doesn't matter either.
