    Local Terminal

Just wondering how everyone makes out dealing with there local terminal. Our local terminal is smaller it has a 52 car spot but they load a train every week. The manager is young (37) and he has a large following of customers. (His Core Group) There are some big farmers that deal there. Rumour has it they get all the deals and favours and movement. I would like to deal locally but sometimes seems difficult. And it's all local people that work there. How does everyone else make out locally???

I have the theory that every Co is an option. We are lucky here, lots of options within 50 miles and some of those options are the same Co but on a different Rail. Lots of special crops processors too.

Got a call from a Rep the other day wondering where my samples are....told them I haven't taken any anywhere yet. Next week we will have to make our rounds.

I like "rewarding" the Cos that treat me well. Some don't see as much of my grain as others for various reasons but I've hauled to most of them in the district at one time or another.

We're Sandbox farmers so we don't carry as much weight as the BTOs, but our quality is usually quite decent....most years.

I told some of the Reps this year will probably be both easier to buy and sell grain....there's a quality crop in areas that are done harvest....maybe not a huge crop but a decent quality crop anyway.
