It was a matter of time . And perfect timing for the fishy story on that lake too show up .
Don't worry the chem companies will provide us us with an environmental friendly insecticide for 3x the cost to the producers .
Much like the ban on Lindane and its replacements that cost us a fortune for less control

Lorsban has gone for shit since they went to the "non twitch" version. I suspect we are headed to the insecticide being built into the seed at triple the cost

Yeah and since matador is off patent and cheap the chem Giants will be more than happy to ban it in favor of "new and improved chemistries"

You mean the persistant organic pollutant? The known carcinogen? Yes "they" banned that to cause you financial harm.

                    Why is this medication prescribed?
Lindane is used to treat scabies (mites that attach themselves to the skin) and lice (small insects that attach themselves to the skin on the head or pubic area ['crabs']). Lindane is in a class of medications called scabicides and pediculicides. It works by killing lice and mites.

Lindane does not stop you from getting scabies or lice. You should only use lindane if you already have these conditions, not if you are afraid that you may get them.

How should this medicine be used?
Lindane comes as a lotion to apply to the skin and a shampoo to apply to the hair and scalp. It should only be used once and then should not be used again. Follow the directions on the package or on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use lindane exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than directed by your doctor.

Lindane should only be used on the skin and hair. Never apply lindane to your mouth and never swallow it. Avoid getting lindane into your eyes.

If lindane gets into your eyes, wash them with water right away and get medical help if they are still irritated after washing.

When you apply lindane to yourself or someone else, wear gloves made of nitrile, sheer vinyl, or latex with neoprene. Do not wear gloves made of natural latex because they will not prevent lindane from reaching your skin. Throw away your gloves and wash your hands well when you are finished.

Lindane lotion is used only to treat scabies. Do not use it to treat lice. To use the lotion, follow these steps:

Your fingernails should be trimmed short and your skin should be clean, dry, and free of other oils, lotions, or creams. If you need to bathe or shower, wait 1 hour before applying lindane to allow your skin to cool.
                    Shake the lotion well.
Put some lotion on a toothbrush. Use the toothbrush to apply the lotion under your fingernails. Wrap the toothbrush in paper and throw it away. Do not use this toothbrush again to brush your teeth.
Apply a thin layer of lotion all over your skin from your neck down to your toes (including the soles of your feet). You might not need all of the lotion in the bottle.
Close the lindane bottle tightly and throw it away in a trash can that is out of the reach of children. Do not save leftover lotion to use later.
You may dress in loose fitting clothing, but do not wear tight or plastic clothing or cover your skin with blankets. Do not put plastic lined diapers on a baby who is being treated.
Leave the lotion on your skin for 8-12 hours, but no longer. If you leave the lotion on longer, it will not kill any more scabies, but it may cause seizures or other serious side effects. Do not let anyone else touch your skin during this time. Other people may be harmed if their skin touches the lotion on your skin.
After 8-12 hours have passed, wash off all of the lotion with warm water. Do not use hot water.OK So there is a little more to most stories than what a tweety would ever tell you. Like "banned" for what. Like its not available anywhere.
Like it doesn't have any place at all etc.etc.

It is generally considered a safe and effective treatment, yes. Although using it a second time can cause death and seizures. Special exemption for that treatment. Been around since 1825. Same organochlorine group as DDT, banned internationally since 07.

And the rinse from one treatment absolutely contaminates 6 million gallons of water to fish who rapidly absorb the neurotoxin. It takes a special asshole company to still make it when pyrethrins work.

The latest FDA label update on Lindane.

The FDA is announcing important updates to the labeling of Lindane Shampoo and Lindane Lotion. These labeling updates are based on the information generated from FDA’s MedWatch program, a voluntary system for reporting side effects to FDA, and reports from medical journals. The FDA wants to update you and your caregivers using Lindane Shampoo or Lindane Lotion that:
serious side effects including seizures and deaths have been reported to the FDA in patients who use too much Lindane or after a second treatment with Lindane.
seizures can happen in some patients even if they use Lindane as directed.
Certain people are at higher risk to develop seizures and death from Lindane. This includes:
                        babies and children
                        elderly
people weighing less than 110 pounds (50 kg)
Serious side effects have been reported in patients who:
used a second application of Lindane too soon after the first
did not use Lindane as directed by their health care provider
                        should not have used Lindane
applied too much Lindane to the skin
Lindane products can cause serious side effects for many reasons, even when used as directed. It is important for patients and caregivers to understand how to properly use Lindane Shampoo and Lindane Lotion.

It persists in water, soil and even is found in the polar ice caps, it doesn't break down.

Are you arguing lindane is ok oneoff? Or just arguing?

But Matador? Can someone say if there is actually a problem or are they just getting industry to announce its use? I assume the latter.

Isn't matador a pyrethyroid? It's actually made from the chrysanthemum flower if I'm not mistaken. So they are gonna ban the closest thing to an organic insecticide?

Pyrethroids are the synthetic one ester version of the 6 ester natural pyrethrum from the Chrysantemum flower.

Same mode of action, but pyrethroids last longer in the environment, more persistent.
