Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Well the year of no rain now shows its true results. Peas started yesterday. Plant mass because we were so wet in spring really good. But as plant grew and water ran out in july with 45 days of no rain it looked like a 55 bus nice thick stance and really only 35% of what it looked like from the road.

So if you take last years crop Wheat and Barley and Peas will be 35% of normal and Canola will be i still figure 50% of normal. Rain in August was just to late.

,,,,,,,,,then that's only 19.5 bu/ac???? Can't be that bad.

Or is it 35% less than normal which would be 35.75 bu/ac.

just at 40 for the peas but never harvested peas that stood so nice and were easy to cut. Now i know the guys who don't get rain in harvest feel. Its easy to farm that way. Usually ours are nice then we desiccate then it rains two inches and wind and they go flat as a pancake.

Let me clarify they had a stand and looked to pod for about a 55 bus crop. Seeds are smaller than normal and only podded at top of the plant. So basically ran out of water late in the season then when it finally rained it just filled the late seeds.

Late seeded peas are going to be much better here but there are very very few late seeded peas .
