Absolutely agree Blackpowder, the sum is ridiculous although it's said his lawyer will get half. Another case was David Milgaard who got $10 million after being wrongly convicted and imprisoned for 23 years for a murder and **** he didn't commit. Wouldn't $1 million be adequate for any such compensation?
Money can only do so much, it can't buy back the years you lost or what you suffered no matter how much they give you.

And it(the money) also doesn't resurrect dead people either.

Read this grassfarmer. All of it, before you spew any more of your patented b*t, your terrorist sympathizer. The court said that there is NO evidence that Justin's pet terrorist was tortured. And there is plenty of evidence that he gleefully and self-admittedly participated in terrorist activities.

grassfarmer, what do people like you have against Canada? Why did you come here only to want to see it destroyed?

if harper had won again, would the result have been any different?

spend another 5 million , fighting it in the courts, only to lose and pay whatever the judge ordered.
          10 -15 -20 million.

the only real difference would be everyone on here would be mad at the courts , not the PM

it is ugly , ugly , no matter how you slice it.
and yes the law is an ass.

the other thing is , when screw ups like this happen
. public servants breaking the law.
leaving the taxpayer vulnerable to lawsuits

why are the people doing the screwups never held to account.
whether it is the RCMP or CSIS or dept. of justice. or the churches in the residential
          school abuses .

just let the taxpayer clean up the mess , no accountability. no charges , no firings .

when RCMP members or the army sexually harass , women in the ranks. nobody ever , gets fired or sued .
          we just pay

but if we did it , it would be a different story .

when churches want to stamp their brand on the natives ,and end up abusing some in the process .
          guess who pays ?

          .

If Harper would have taken away his Canadian citizenship, I think it would have been different. But what gets to me is how many new Khadr's have been let in.

Too many unknowns. And no accountability on people's behalf.

Why did his father put him in harms way?
What choice did he have once he was in control of the enemy?
Not even the age of majority.
Did he or didn't he contribute IN ANY WAY to the death of Western Allies?
You can't always trust and believe people in authority to do the right thing.
Police and Military personnel lie...always have always will.
He likely had been "interrogated" for information when under U.S. control.
Does participating in a war against your country, or your countries allies, of birth strip you of that country's citizenship? It is considered treasonous?
At his age did he actually have a choice under the circumstances(again).
Under the circumstances did Canada have an obligation to "rescue" him from U.S. military possession.
Propaganda is a weapon of war.
Did he choose to participate or was it forced upon him. What were his options?
WTF is wrong with his father when his children could have been living in the safety of Canada? Just shows the value he places on human life.... even his children's!

Omar Khadr: Did he or did he not act on his own free will?

Just a bunch of disjointed comments to ponder.
