I saw a news report that Canada's weather radar system is slated for an upgrade. I don't know what the new technology is or how it works but with Bethune's (Sk)going down every once in a while it will be a welcome change

Yes, Bethune is slated for an upgrade along with a bunch stations across Canada. Very much needed at Bethune....way past it's life.

They did state they hope to have all upgrades done by 2023!! So hopefully they are starting alphabetically

What 9 ancient 1940's radar for prairies? US must have a 100 just in plains area, hi tech doppler radar, computes precip in inches by the hour. Historic accumulations over a chosen time in inches. Ya upgrade maybe. 2023, might never get to use it for farming!
                Ralph should get first upgrade!

Twenty Twenty Three sounds like a long way away.... but it is only 5 years.

Although still too long to wait for that new tech!

Correction...DUH....actually thats almost 7 years from now til the end of 2023!

I probably forgot the best "looking" year..."2020"...pun intended!

1.3 million people in Sask. and we cannot get a reasonable forecast from EC. In laws live in the Quebec City area and they have storm warnings issued two to three days in advance. I see they have a warning issued for Tuesday night Wednesday morning already.Their temperatures drop to -20 and extreme cold warnings go out but for us it has to -40 before there is even a mention of extreme cold.
