20 million to starve in africa

Really.....so we ship them here and help them out....

Wouldn't it be simpler amd cheaper to ship them grain and actually feed the world. ...

If you took the amount of money this immigration wave costs and use it to buy Canadian grain and ensure it gets to the starving as aid....we would all be better off.

Nigeria, south Sudan , Yemen and Somalia. They have guns there but no food. ...mostly because helping nations would rather write a cheque than actually do something about it.

Trudeau should pay Canadian farmers and send the grain over there. It might start to highlight the problems here and where the money spent is more effective. ...

Grain wouldn't help. They just steal it and trade it on the international market for guns and gold for the elites.
Guns for the poor would help, along with soldiers to show them how and a few bombs dropped on their "leaders"
But of course violence never solved anything right?

And who's going to ensure the starving get the grain, UN soldiers or Canadian soldiers ? How much does that cost, maybe some soldiers lives? Are you saying nobody can come from any of there countries with out proper vetting? Do you honesty blame people for wanting to get out of those hell holes, I know if I were in their stituation and had an education, Canada would be my first choice!

Bucket your intentions are good, but how feasible is it?

I guess then I should ignore the news on that topic and allow them to starve....

Can't get grain there because the thugs control it ....sort of points to the problem....so is allowing the arms companies to continue to sell to these people. ....

But let's quit sending celebrities and political people over there to say something has to be done when no person of authority like Trudeau or Trump or the British PM.... will do nothing....

And all of the countries including US are too happy to manufacture the weapons and SELL THEM TO THE THUGS!

Safe camps created, operated and maintained by our countries would be far more effective than throwing money away to be used to buy arms and don't forget our multi-million dollar government donations to "charatible" foundations. Along with food, planned parenthood centers would help the poor to plan their families. IMHO

Who's going to pay for this, and supply the military backing? NATO or the UN who are vastly underfunded. In other word where does the money come from to do this? What about logistics, it's hard enough for grain to move properly in Canada let alone in a 3rd world country. Do you have convoys of military accompanying every train or truck moving to these camps?

Again intentions are good, but very hard and expensive to do with corrupt governments in power in those countries!!

Maybe fixing infrastructure on both sides creates jobs for people rather than arming them....who would have thunk that would work....

Instead of naysaying maybe these are the solution's we should look for....who wouldn't want to live in a peaceful country? Doesn't mean it can't happen in Somalia or Yemen with the right attitude. ...of course there will be collateral damage. ....

Yep, forage, I believe you are correct, but we can't take them all into our country and we can't fix every country's problems at home so maybe we can try this.

As for money, I don't know how much but a lot is donated by us and government only to never get to the need. Better to try the safe camp, where we personally control who gets it. Just saying as the starvation problem is not getting solved effectively now.

The fed govt doesn't send food aid any more. They send cash so the NGO (non govt organizations) can buy more grain cheaper and closer to home improving local economy there.

The reason Canada has such a good reputation abroad is primarily due to the Canadian Wheat board, quality cheap for the hungry. They had massive promotion, feel good campaigns.

People were saying the same ****ing thing 30+ years ago. If anything, Africans need investment in all forms of birth control. If you can't sustain yourself in this world, you sure as hell can't support kids - no matter in the developed or 3rd world.

Good point....I think it's the same kid in the hungry African commercials ....you would think they would grow up....or give an update to whatever happened to them from the donated money....

Oops .... time for another layer of tinfoil...

The world child mortality rate has been reduced by half since 1990. Though there is still a long ways to go, I would say things are improving.

"""""""The United Nations needs $4.4bn by the end of next month to prevent "a catastrophe" of hunger and famine in South Sudan, Nigeria, Somalia and Yemen, according to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

More than 20 million people face starvation in the four countries and action is needed now to avert a humanitarian disaster, Guterres told a news conference at UN headquarters on Wednesday.

"We need $4.4 billion by the end of March to avert a catastrophe," he said.""""""""

Nope....they need a few thousand tonnes of grain for food.....pay the countries making food and more importantly the farmers ....
rather than writing cheques to dictators.....

Never ate a dollar bill in my life.
