Unpaid leave to help provinces finances

The guys that should be taking a unpaid leave are the government mlas.....and their ignorant staff.....

Should do like Ralph Klein did when he came to power in Alberta. Everyone from the top ( Premier) down took the same percentage pay cut.Every person that gets a pay cheque from the province takes the same percentage cut..

After "many" years of "service" how many weeks of paid holidays do some people get?

Talk about eating into the productivity of a business operation.

And before someone chimes in and says we don't work all year round either, all I have to say is it NEVER GETS SHUT OFF HERE. Just because we aren't shoveling shit or digging grain out of corners of old square wooden bins doesn't mean nothing is getting done! How many hats is one person expected to wear!?!?!?!?!?

Stat holidays stacked up with week ends and EDOs makes for some lengthy stretches off work, then add in how many weeks per year for long service....

A simple 5% flat sales tax for every single resident in the province - no exception no rebates regardless of race , religion or occupation.
If we don't we are going to be screwed as a society.
Way too many speacial interest groups and religious b/s not taxed including farms tax breaks .
I would give up some tax breaks for an all inclusive across the board tax . We simply have no choice in sask now .
Way too many basically living for free

It's time for a cut in spending by the govt on everything including all civil servants. Another area is some of the big construction jobs the amount of waste on these job sites would almost make u sick to see all the brand new stuff thrown out and if any of the workers touch the junk pile they get fired. Another thing that burns my ass is seeing dept of highways driving up and down a dry road with snowplow what a waste.

Too much government waste. Teachers going to Norway to study their schooling for a month, Sask Tel employees in the Bahamas, crowns spending on infrastructure in third world countries, 8 weeks paid vacation added to EDO's, stats, family days, volunteer days, sock days, stress days and much much more. All of these extravagances are unnecessary and frivolous. Clean er up Wall, now is the time. Put everything on the table, assemble audit groups of volunteers ( I was on a board of a medical group in the Devine erato report back to government). The lefties will call it a witch hunt but the right will have your back.

I find it a bit amusing that you guys are lighting your hair on fire over a 1 billion dollar deficit, here in Alberta the NDP will have a 15 billion dollar deficit for the 2016-2017 budget year when you include capital spending. I realize that doesn't make your situation any better but it could be worse! We have this large deficit plus a carbon tax!

Sassy farmer if you ran your farm like this govt you'd be picking bottles out of the ditch to afford your next vacation.

Just a little comparison hamloc ,how much debt did the previous govt drop on the Ndp or was it all their doing?
Here in Sasquatchewan, Bradley squandered the wealth all on his own

Mustardman, when Ralph Klein retired there was a 17 billion dollar sustainability fund. Every government after him spent more than they took in. Having said that I believe there was still 3 billion in that fund when the NDP came to power. Certainly the PC governments of Stelmach and Redford could spend the money but the NDP are setting a new standard.

This is a wonderful idea, Ralph Klein administration would be a good one to copy for reducing costs.
The good news is there is a great reason to get out the chopping block and axe to reduce salaries, perks, green projects, all unnecessary trips.
SaskTel and SGI should be evaluated for review and possibly privatized or at least some of their divisions.
Healthcare spending is over 40% of all government spending so must be reduced.
There is a LOT of wasted resources put into universities, time to trim especially for all the "degrees" that don't end up getting students employment.

We don't want to end up anything like the dumpster fire with the Alberta NDP bringing in a carbon tax after having a $15 billion deficit. Where are the green jobs they promised?
