BILL No. 95 An Act respecting the Management and Reduction of Greenhouse Gases and Ad

    BILL No. 95
An Act respecting the Management and Reduction of Greenhouse
Gases and Adaptation to Climate Change

    http://www.qp.gov.sk.ca/documents/english/FirstRead/2009/Bill-95.pdf

Some interesting reading. While never put into force, Brad Wall's government had put into place in 2009 the regulatory structure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and tax excess emissions.
    (b)
    “carbon compliance price”
means the prescribed price to be paid for
the emission of one tonne of CO2

Wall and taxpayers invested 1.2 billion in carbon capture and storage in an effort to reduce greenhouse gases. This the most expensive option and one that will be paid for by electricity users and taxpayers (another form of a tax). So when Wall says he doesn't really support a carbon tax he is not telling the truth.

He is really playing politics by a saying he doesn't believe in a carbon tax but is really behind the scenes putting together a plan to reduce emissions his way.

If someone could do the math of the carbon capture project at 1.5 billion and work out the tonnes he could have just bought .....it really makes Walls government look stupid.

    1,500,000,000 ÷10 = 150 million tonnes of carbon.

Can someone say how much carbon Saskatchewan will get charged for and when does someone stand up and ask for our credits with forestry and ag land?

If you capture carbon, you also have the liability of it being released in the future at astronomical cost to that province/country. Seems pretty short sighted on the liability end.

How do they calculate how much carbon is emitted/released by each process. Cows burping and farting. Diesel and gas burning. And any other process that releases it.

Its hard to accept something you don't understand. Will this go down as one of those holy crap we got that wrong things?

John Basarab at the Lacombe research facility has figured out how to capture cattle emissions pretty accurately.

Tweety, what do you mean released in the future? Who says it is ever going to see the light of day, EVER?

Are you 100% sure? Shit breaks, stuff leaks, disasters happen.

A simpler example, carbon storing in zero till and you get paid for it. Does that mean you now have to pay someone to store that carbon you are about to release as you till your land should you need to?

Plain old liability, how much do we want in SK?

The carbon is taken up by photosynthesis and converted to sugars and starches.
