Baloney meters and sandboxes be damned????

In the real world (supposedly including Canada); baloney meters and sandboxes are in the domain of wannabe marijuana supporters; and those seeking near perfection in their tiny view of reality. Get a grip on what it takes to feed, house and meet demands of increasing billions demanding better lifestyles and all the conveniences. Maybe support what the world can sustain by realistically keeping homo sapiens numbers within those limits.

Common sense and what can be done within limits has been lost???

oneoff, are you suggesting population control? How do you suggest it be done? All the world ever cares about is a growing "economy".

Populations in First World industrialized nations don't seem to have high birthrates(???? actually not sure). Why is immigration so important to keep population stable or growing.

If a couple of people ever only have two kids between them they will only maintain the population. If the couple only have a single kid... they never replaced themselves. Three or more kids and they are contributing to population growth. We all know family sizes have decreased in Canada.... can't speak to the rest of the world. But I do believe we are "consuming" more than our fair share of resources, and more per capita than ever.

In all populations,as incomes go up birth rates go down. To the point culture dissolves.

Population shrinkage, not expansion is the theme in the western world. There will not be enough workers and demand for production in the economy 30 yrs from now to avoid having most Canadian seniors living in poverty by then. Third world refugees are not a substitute for organic population growth as we are going to find out in a big way in Canada.

Our society is an consumer economy and without growth it will implode. Pyramid scheme. When one takes more than they are alloted the rest have to suffer. But as mr Prentice said math is hard.

With world population increasing as it has..and as it will continue to do so; just how does anyone think that it isn't somehow related to procreation and maybe relative decreased death rates.

You come up with your potential solutions; if indeed you think that we have/will reach(ed) the point of too many souls for the resources Mother Earth can supply.

Otherwise deny..deny deny is an alternate response. Nothing much can be done to argue that one. We'll all get what we deserve.
