YQR you screwed up WHY?

Seems since the Regina Regional Airport is no longer a International Airport. Thanks to the Wanks that run the shit show.
See Delta and others flew for years out of regina to Denver, Chicago or Min. Real nice could connect to other destinations and actually keep Air Canada and West Jet in line.

Well just booked the winter xmas fights to Hawaii and wow $2633.00 Cheaper to fly out of Calgary Vs Regina or Winterpeg vs regina.

You can rent a car take to airport and pay no parking whole time your gone and then rent a car and drop off in regina once holliday is done. Plus add in hotel in Calgary and you save $2200.00 at xmas.

Regina YQR has some major problems and yes the winter of 2016 17 will cost travellers way more again thanks to YQR not having there shit together.

Maybe saskatoon yet but Regina is a no fly out zone this winter.

We are flying out of Edmonton to Maui, instead of Saskatoon. Much cheaper. We go for Xmas every year also. We bought property in Maui years ago.

Its a heads up for any of you who get away. The Regina Airport has issues and big issues. Something they aren't telling the public about why the Chicago and Min and Denver flights were canceled. It is a regional airport now with only access to Calgary or Toronto etc.

A flight to add to Calgary shouldn't increase the cost by $2600.00.

Just saying heads up to all who travel.

As for Regina airport, it probably has a lot to do with the resources being in the dump. We usually fly to US and use Allegiant out of Minot, no fuss-no muss. Just gotta stay off the no-fly list. LOL

I think we are less than 5 years away from young guys wanting to restart something similar to the pools.

Poor quality grain, shitty weather harvests, changes guys perspective quickly.

Can't get a decent grade....existing grain cos sitting with cleaners and dryers and charging to the point it's cheaper to build it on farm.....etc.


This harvest will have grain sitting around and affecting next year's grading.....remind you of anything. ....the more they change it seems the more it stays the same.....and yet still no KY before it all starts.

I know this has nothing to do with the Regina airport but had to say something about sdg remarks....


Regina airport ....not sure why they are building around it...seems stupid...eventually they will ask to have it moved....and that will be another job creator

Or is this not a YQR problem but simply the free market at work. Airports cannot force airlines to service a market. And if there is not a regular demand for flights to a certain market - enough to fill the seats on scheduled service - why would an airline fly there.

Just like the railroads, why should airlines service every little airport (elevator) when they can still reap the rewards of flying people by forcing them to drive themselves to a major airport (inland terminal)

Plus Flight pricing is truly based on supply and demand. Could it be the oilmen who spent Christmas in Hawaii each year are not going now so there are great seat sales on out of Calgary this year. Couple that with the cutback in Regina flights and now you have to pay a premium to fly out of YQR.

Interesting how people love the free market when it works for them and they benefit from it but they are the first to complain when the free market works against them blaming government and thinking government should somehow subsizdize private business like airlines so they do not have to pay what the free market is willing to provide service for.

Regina airport now just like Lethbridge. Back in the 1980 you could go a number of places from Lethbridge, now with the city much larger, it only flies to Calgary and Edmonton. Most of who flies are bureaucrats with expense accounts. I think Regina would not get realistic due to unfunded pension liabilities and as such service gets cut. Just Canuckistan becoming more like the third world country it really is.
