Heard tonight it was a drug bust at Sonningdale aka Dodge City. Could be just a rumor, Cops showed up at a guys place out there and asked to buy a jerrycan of gas. Paid him and left. Remember the body that showed up there in the spring. Like someone said on here a while back, this is a quiet, secluded area where stuff can happen and nobody will see it, for a while , anyways.

Is it rumor that 2 farmers stopped on the side of the road to bs and they got mugged by a truckload of thugs?

          Possible solutions:
          1. Work camps, develope northern infrastructure vs jail. Uranium city is developed, type places?

          2.inteligence and monitoring.
In the Middle East there are drones that circle cities at very high altitudes. They have the best cameras, megapixel/multispectral. They record video 24-7. If a bomb goes off, technicians in a office can replay, see who, what and where exactly the event took place. They can then play forward and follow where people or vehicles go or they can go backwards and see where they came from. Yes we are being watched, big deal.

          3. There is a cheaper, more cost effective way to monitor small towns, communities etc
Residents set up there own camera and recording systems. Home Depot has camera systems called "Nest" mount the cameras to watch in the house, gas tanks, drive ways, and also grid roads. You can record video, get text and email alerts, etc install at major intersections - stop signs- take video of who's in the vehicles. This is no different than google street maps driving by and seeing your house with the garage open.
          - need wifi or internet service ( likely not Sasktel)
          - or same set up as what is used for grain bin temp and moisture monitoring small solar panel and cell phone subscriptions about $35 month ?

          - cameras about $200 each they are awesome, and work awesome, free app works awesome, do it

The key is deterants, monitor and prosecute. Social, upbringing, excuses are expensive and don't work. There are cities in New Mexico for "bums ", Seattle Washington is going to pass legislation where campers can camp any time any where on/in public parks including football and ball diamonds - police can't move them, I suppose it will look like Craven after a while. Every one has rights and entitlement

Does anyone leave equipment in the fields in these high risk areas? Locking anything is almost useless.
They will likely just smash glass in spite....

So far we are really lucky... no problems here but you do here of some B & E's.... white guy caught on camera! ****en loser! Theft... the lowest form of socialism... "too ****ing lazy to work for what I want so I will steal it from those who worked to get it!"

Since the young offender act was passed, it seems like the criminal element is just getting younger and media only reports a fraction of the events so you can imagine what the cops put up with. Crime was primarily city-related but has spilled over into our world. The safe place where we used to leave doors unlocked, keys in the ignitions, children playing freely in the yard, is gone. Our kids travelling on lonely rural roads need dash cams, as well we may need to mount yard cameras linked to our phones, pretty soon we'll need fences with electric wire on top like we saw around yards in Mexico. Gun control advocates are screaming, " Take away all guns", then only criminals will be armed. I heard on Gormley yesterday that there is insurance costing $95/year that you can buy to protect yourself from prosecution if you do get charged in a firearm related case. Just depends how far the courts let this thing escalate to, I guess.

Don't know anything about the SK situation but where we were in AB property theft was rampant from stealing tools and fuel from farms to stealing ATM machines and vehicles. Seemed to be to feed the meth and other drug habits. White kids - not natives or recent immigrants. Drugs and the oilpatch seem to go hand and hand.

How do they steal these vehicles, where are the keys? Are they stealing them from homes, businesses, farms? Maybe I can go and get myself a new SUV?

They are getting stolen from every where
Some just end up abandoned, most on the Rez in their chop shops . Those are litterally striped in hrs

What do they do with them once they are in pieces? Where is the market?

I was told stolen stuff like tools, sleds, quads, ect. are going thru a reserve in Alberta, they fence stuff all over and are ganged up to give them protection. Cbc questioning RCMP about an incident north of Biggar on Sept.15. Apparently the cruiser gave the boys a tap from behind and they rolled and were ejected from the vehicle. Cbc didn't make much mention that they had 60 miles to pullover after the cops first tried to stop them.

Get the odd theft report around here once in awhile, so i guess we are lucky compared to other places. The other night about nine had lights flashing to the west. I guess poachers were caught shooting three moose. It was five natives from Manitoba. Don't agree with just shooting them, but its better than stealing from my place.
