This is going to be a steep learning curve for me. I
was tired of the the terminal bullshit and knew
producer cars were an option to the terminals poor
delivery threats and ever widening basis. Wish me
    luck.....

Bucket, simple solution build your own storage. You are real good at spending others money.

I am not spending anyone's money.

I have storage, probably going to buy more.

I think its retarded. I would rather deliver direct to the elevator, either to condo space or the contract.

No condo space available to make it work. And contracts are a little dismal right now.

But that is not the issue, the track space is booked solid. That is not going to change. Big crop little crop makes no difference. Exports are growing at a good pace to keep the western canadian economy in good shape, but the transportation system is broken.

Continue loading producer cars, I think that's great and shouldn't be taken away.

But when the track is booked and you start getting the same delays, and it will come, then what???

Truck it to the states past 15 canadian elevators. Container it? and the rails are still booked.

I don't quite get what you find offensive in a new vision, but carry on.

One other consideration, what do you think the naysayers from the first railway build would say if they could see it today.

Lets rip it up or build more????

"Be thankful everyone doesn't want to wear out an
auger to load cars and say they are making more
            money. "
That's exactly why the terminals and line
companies are smiling like the butchers dog.
It's awesome , I watch my neighbour all big, with b
trains and employees and money out their asses,
three trips to somewhere hot, and then ****ing
howl like a gut shot coyote when they have to get
their men to start an auger and load a rail car
that's three weeks late. Never mind running the
stupid fax machine to order it. the old lady sends
my faxes blah blah blah. Whoa, I'm ranting.
Bucket, I understand, for the future there has to
be a bigger picture solution, I think it requires the
Canada Grain Act and alignments for expansion
of existing producer car loading facilities. If the rail
lines and elevators continue to prove their
incompetence and gouging of their producer
vendors, the farmer vendors will have no choice
but to change the way they sell product or just go
broke. This year may be enough of a financial
education for farmer to look after their own affairs
in one form or another. That's where the young
generation fits. They are not just your kids/labour.
they will find e- opportunity. USE ACCOUNTS
            RECEIVABLE INSURANCE ON NEW BUYERS.
Good luck, with loading producer cars. Make sure
you have PRINTED scale tickets not hand written.
Order the rail cars yourselves, as a producer. Do
not let anyone else order cars "for you" . Use the
Canada grain act in your favour. It is real it works I
am living proof. This is a bad year to start, but you
will learn. line companies order cars for you and
they are in que with other line companies. THE
LAW STATES YOU AS A FARMER PRODUCER
GETS PRIORITY. not some bullshitting profit
taking line company. If they do it you will wait and
wait and wait and you will get mad and say it
doesn't work and you will have been buffaloed.
Then you will still be mad and never do it again.

Good ideas, but when the producer car siding become as big as the current terminals, then what??

I really do understand what everyone is saying, but make no mistake, the transportation system is broken.

But blast me because I think this country needs another railway and a service provider.

I am just thinking down the road. Not so much for me but my son , if he decides to farm.

Does the US have producer cars?

They grow considerably more grain than us canadians, and yet they will handle a bunch of ours as well??

                Interesting?????

Hobby. Whats the significance of printed versus
hand written scale tickets. I've never done this and
may have a lot of questions.

Bucket , when the siding is as large as the
                    terminals, then you have success.
I do agree that the big picture must change.
                    Influencing large profitable companies, and/or
government takes time, lots of time and studies
and meetings. Those who want to grow and sell
grain don't have that luxury. They will have to
                    adjust and adapt.
When the track is booked, order for the next
siding down the road. The employees will drive
the btrain 15 km and load there. If it's yourself,
and you need the money, you will do that.
I am agreeable to the bigger picture and dual
running rights. In the meantime, farmers have to
work on short term solutions to get money. I
chronically underestimate the wealth on farms in
western Canada. Long term lobbying and
organizational meetings are effective, I'm just
                    thinking about me....now.

Printed tickets are more legitimate, less room for
human error, inversions, decimal points, bad
penmanship etc. I have seen this happen. It was a
dodgy farmer trying to gain 5%, then blaming it on
the the local simple guy writing in the weights and
I was new to the game and got buffaloed by the
farmer. end user kept things right.
Eventually, a person learns other people.
