Canada's grain industry firing on all cylinders for a change?

The way I see it, either the crop isn't as big, or our
grain handling industry magically became way
    more efficient post cwb.

Grain is moving quickly, strangely the railways'
    union didn't strike this time....

I think our total consumption and exports will
surpass any year in the past... 60mmt?

Don't think the 1000 mt of wheat for sept
delivery that i still have in my bins
      proves your theory correct.

Yep...SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST is the rule NOW. One feature hated by some producers was orderly marketing providing some fairness across the designated area. That is forever GONE.

Let the big dogs win...the LAW OF THE JUNGLE shall prevail.

Willy if the law of the jungle really was, the big dogs always win, wouldn't the jungle be full of big dogs?

                True fact;
If you took the biomass of all of the animals in a jungle, birds, reptiles, mammals, etc. It would not equal the mass of the ants that live there. So if you apply this to your farm metaphor, there are a lot of opportunities in agriculture for small guys with a plan, willing to work hard for it.

I live half a mile from the tracks on a deadend line.
                  Trains moving almost daily.
All my November contracts are delivered.

Sept hrs contract 25 percent delivered, five miles to terminal. Only want high protein, I don't have any. Full bins and grain bags everywhere in the peace, I cant see it all ever moving, basis is widening like crazy.

I tend to think You are on to something. The crop
is big no doubt. I have not moved all my contracts
but was very aggressive with sept oct dd
contracts and have delivered at least a third of
total crop already. Basis is very wide and
handling profits will now be significant. We have
priced some more wheat to secure price and
winter movement. The protein thing is an issue
with wheat but we did have some high protein and
have moved that already to capture the protein
premiums as they are large right now. We lock
the bins on any new sales till the basis gets better

I would say same ole same ole. Slow movement
and CN up to its old tricks. No cars no cars then
they show up on the long weekend. Gotta love
unions and double time and a half.
