    the first time

Just thought I'd share a little info with ya's this morning..I see stats can has canola production at 13.3 mmt with aaverage yeild at 27.7. Since this farm has been growing canola it will be the first time we have a farm average less than the stats can number.

Same here, 20" of rain May to Aug, torrential floods a few times in July with loonie hail, 100kph winds and SFA canola yield. Who would have thought?
        Screw 2012!

You mean rain doesn't make grain????

I think the saying about small crops get smaller will prove true this year. Statscan is notorious for borrowing supply from new crop to help keep a lid on prices. Might be harder this year when the bins are empty in May. They won't be able to find 500,000 tonnes in the July?AUgust estimates this year when the crushers are "shutdown for maintenence" in June.

Besides, how does a reporting agency have any credibility when they find that kind of tonnage 11 months after the fact and coincidentally show up at harvest time? Better yet, how does anyone hide that much canola for 11 months?

Statscan is just another Government propaganda arm which has been manipulating figures for eons IMHO. Information is meted out if and when it is needed before policy change or market correction.

Politicians and their parties make use of this information because they get first crack at access to it. Interpretation is the key and that is where the "smart" experts and gurus guide us with their advice.
