    Swift Current to Gravelbourg

Radar is showing tornado- like storms. Any Agrivillers in that area?

Some pretty interesting clouds. Heavy rain and wind. Shortlived fortunately.

Apparently 8 miles east of JD's and our farm there was a funnel cloud/tornado and a lot of lightning. Friend of my wife said there was one lightning strike in the middle of their yard that knocked her over in her house.

I thought we'd be swimming out of Regina today, but it was just a whole lot of noise and lightning. It was more impressive than the fireworks the night before. One clap of thunder was earth-shattering. Is it true about all the nitrogen from the lightning?

            Apparently it may be true.

""""Lightning can also fix nitrogen. The high temperature of a lightning bolt can break the bonds of atmospheric nitrogen molecules. Free nitrogen atoms in the air bond with oxygen in the air to create nitrogen oxides, which dissolve in moisture to form nitrates that are carried to Earth's surface by precipitation.""""

Disclaimer: I Googled it and found many articles explaining it this way.

Actually heard Dan Orchard speak on this very topic at FarmTech 4 or 5 years ago. He was speaking on Canola fertility and he added in some Nitrogen due to lightning when accounting for the plant available N.
