    Agrotain

Been putting broadcast urea on winter wheat.
Looked at cost of using Agrotain urease inhibitor, seems economic only with three weeks without moisture to take fertilizer into soil.
Even then pretty much a wash.
Better to spend money on higher rate and take chances on weather.
Supporters of regulation might say make a law to take away monopoly powers from suppliers of Agrotain but perhaps technology or end to patent protection is a better solution.

Three quarters inch of rain, enough already!
Would use Agrotain to help reduce greenhouse gas if it was not so expensive.
    Latest research indicates it works.

NBPT also known as agro tain isn't snake oil. It has been very well researched and proven to work by independent peer reviewed studies.

I'm not sure how you penail it out but considering you can loose over 50% of the N in urea in less than a week...

Applying liquid sulphur to N or using 28 woth S in it is a poor man's agrotain

Kinda works - maybe - for some i guess.

Did many replicated trials on wheat and neither yield nor protein were statistically different. Same result on canola but no protein obviously. Agrotain provided the goods.

You gotta do your own homework tho to see if it works on your soil/water conditions.

I repeat what Klause says. Last year prime example of huge differences in treated vs untreated in drier than normal spring

You can get a rough determination of urea loss by monitoring the size of the granules up until the first significant rain event.
If it's dry with low humidity it just lays there.
High humidity, heavy dew, strong wind. Those granules just keep getting smaller without any water to take the N into the ground.
Agrotain is most effective if you have urea hung up in grass residue.

Unfortunately nobody sells it here anymore. Pushing ESN hard. More margin obviously.
