I've been busy so I haven't got all the news but did the loony left or centrists push out Mulcair? If the loonies punted him they'll be so far left even a good Saskatchewan ndp'er won't touch them federally.

bucket the mb. conservatives had balanced budget legislation in place when they were last in power. The ndp got rid of that legislation. It seems like if the conservatives run a deficit it's a terrible thing, but if the ndp do it's justifiable. What's up with that? Typical leftwing jargon?

We're 36 billion in debt., of course there's gonna be a defict in mb. next year! no one can turn that around in one year! At least we won't be doubling our deficit in one year like alta. will. ( ndp )

Horse if I understand the Alberta NDP correctly the reason for imposing a carbon tax it is to change our consumption patterns of carbon based fuels by increasing their cost. First and foremost from what I have read and heard the way it is structured it is an income redistribution plan and a way to create a large government fund to pick winners and losers in industry and to subsidize green energy. It has also been promoted as a way to create social licence to get pipelines built. She can't even sell this to her own federal party and it won't work work with anti-pipeline activist in BC or eastern Canada either.

Couple of other thoughts. Why in BC have farmers been exempted from the carbon tax? It also appears this will happen in Alberta. The Oil Sands producers will also be able to expense it. If the carbon tax is such good policy why is it selectively applied? I am concerned this could increase animosity towards farmers from the general public.

Horse, the carbon tax will not help our deficit either. We need a sales tax applied to general revenues and our resource revenues put in savings to provide revenue for future generations. I believe ITC's for green infrastructure and incentives for energy efficiency would be more effective. Use a carrot instead of a stick.

As for the rejection of Mulcair and the apparent positive outlook on the Leap Manifesto the NDP turned a hard left, this will not help Premier Notley.

If the federal ndp have turned hard left, punted Mulcair, and choose someone other than a québécois for a leader then next election may be interesting. It could go either way. Trudeau gets a minority and forms govt with the ndp or they get about 2 seats and shuffle into oblivion like before. I think the latter cause their hard left shift will scare off the mainstream. Federally the ndp has always been radical more so than their provincial counterparts but now they've really diverged. Quebec could see a shift back to the bq or even liberals. Maritimes and some inner city ridings could be all they could ever win. It's all we can hope for because their radicalized brand of social democrat is just plain scary.

Farmers sequester. way more carbon than what they are using. The carbon tax revenue should be paid to them as well as tree growers. Carbon is used in the photosynthetic process, in order to produce green growth. How hard is that to understand, Horse?

See him on TV from Edmonton NDP convention, not any more likeable.
