How much are oats selling for currently? Light oats or heavier.

Auger them in the bush. Deer might as well eat them.

It's a good time if you're buying oats but not selling.
P&H bids appear to be $2.25 for 2CW.

Have seen 2.75 bids for October....not interested until number starts with a 3.

What is the price point of scandanavian oats landed at US mills? That is about the max we can expect worked back to freighting it to those points. Unless you feed the crap or can grow big bushels they're a bin filling waste of time. I curse every time I grow them but they're good for starting feeder calves and feeding horses but beyond that barley is far superior energy for grain and more palatable forage. Still though guys plant them and like them so each to their own.

When you buy oats look at price lb/tonne.
Not cheap @ 34# bushel and lower feed values than barley or pellets.

Oats are expensive and lower energy but I think why people fall back on them is they are thought of as "safe" on critters for fear of burning them out on barley. Oats are great for self feeding calves but beyond that barley if fed accordingly is less bulk and more energy.
