I did a Sept 5 to 5-70 bull call spread on chicago for 18 cents. Local cash bid is $6.50 today. If that play matures with prices over $5.70 that puts wheat sold today just over $7. If it goes down you still have $6.32 in your pocket. There's a bit of an fX play too if, probably when, the dollar goes down.

Canola with edge down 5%, HRS will be down 15% or more.
Peas and lentils can't hit 10 million without subtracting from the two largest crops......regardless of what our sarcastic Agriville member says.

Interesting you know how many acres will be grown in the upcoming year.
However looking at crop insurance data, it tells a different story. While the history is no absolute predictor of the future, it certainly shows a trend that by far the majority of the acres have been for many years now wheat and canola.
Farmers are creatures of habit. How else do you think we are so easily marketed to and manipulated?

speak for yourself tweety , we grow 8 different crops on 3200 acres . but the question was : do you want to put your money where your mouth is ? and if you believe prairies will be half canola/half wheat , you are getting some really bad info ! i wouldn't even repeat something like that

Even the big ac guys here that have been 50-50 wheat/canola are putting in 20% pulse crops this year.
Locally we are going to be very wet to start - peas may be a wreck if it is cool after seeding. Caution should be noted on to many extra pea acres. DYODD
We may back off peas a bit and put more canola in.

It'll be interesting to see how many actually want to find out what its like harvesting peas an inch off the ground. Lots will say screw it - like every previous year.
Caseih, your bitter tone is quite disturbing. Maybe you need a vacation or something.
