Freewheat, good luck with the bees. I love the idea of bees.

I don't love summerfallow though. If you're overly wet it's an even worse idea as fallow stores water. Keep your land covered. Grow something, be it cash crop or cover crop, but grow something.

Thanks re the bees. I am quite excited. Love trying new stuff.

Regarding summerfallow, I detest it more than you I bet.

But Maybe you missed the point of it. It is so I can fix the land, and regain acres lost. The acres lost are now cattails, and they catch 4 feet of snow, perpetuating the problem. So The only way to fix it is to not seed it and sc**** it properly. I do not look forward to it, but I do look forward to the end result!

Good point on having something growing. Believe me, I would like that very much. I may scatter something out there late summer when it is done? Try some of them fandangled tillage radishes from Elmy or something? Even leftover seed, whatever it may be. Bin run canola planted in late July?? Maybe even oats and try for a bit of greenfeed in a potential dry year. Might be valuable if it is dry in the dry areas?

Maybe throw some bin run fabas in for a plow down when you're done scraping? Try to grow some moisture out somehow.

Hopefully 10% SRW. Assuming it survives, that'll leave me with 35% corn, 35% soys, and 20% azukis

100% GM alfalfa. Needed as the organic cheap blend white cockle alfalfa variety grown by the same has screwed us all
