I was waiting for someone to post this story.

I stand by my opinion that part of the blame can be laid on main stream media for all excessive coverage that sensationalizes this sort of thing.

Also violent reality video games....both game consoles and online.

Maybe my perception is wrong and I don't want to sound callous but out here it's not a surprise. Lots of dangerous places here more dangerous then you could believe Malle. Got boot stomped by twenty kids in a bowling alley one time luckily they where iner city youth without any power and they couldn't even break my skin open. Nothin like the rigger types and farmers in small town guys lol.

Laloche is the Alice Springs of Sask
But still a horrible event for kids to witness - going to leave deep emotional scars in an already tough community .

hehe cotton been in a few blues over the years last one with a maori sheep shearer lol about 7 years ago was dead heat.....to old for this stuff never again.

I know nobody in northern hemisphere agrees with australias gun policy but its worked and no skin anyones nose 15 years down the track. Farmers hunters target shooters etc etc still do there thing just with out semi auto weapons, but im not going argue the pros and cons of gun laws gun ownership pointless.

Mental health will come up im sure about the accused. Close to my heart I have a sister who has battled mental illness since her early 20s ultra intelligent high flying job, all turned to shit. Ive been in a ambulance in the middle of the night with as she been rushed to hospital after a attempt on her life but wouldn't go until I got there, ive been there when last rights have been read after a drug overdose she pulled through, but ive got very strong views on the issue and different from mainstream perhaps.

I spoke out a country peoples mental health conference against what a lot of the so called experts said who live in the city and say they deal with it day to day, I was howled down by experts but actually applauded by many in the crowd and said yep that's how it is when your a family member involved

Sometimes compassion is used by me other times a blazing row erupts when my sister is in a phycotic state.

Anyway mental health is complicated topic and im sure it will be seen to be the core issue in Canadian tragedy.

The more the media supports and sensationalizes, the more likely someone else is prompted to do the same thing.
CBC has national coverage and interviews and quotes from prime minister and others down to former mayor of La Loche.
A little like encouraging other deranged people.

I would like to it make clear I don't think burying my head in the sand in regards to these events is the answer either. There are "root causes" as to why these things are happening and it's those that need to be identified and dealt with. But going on and on about each event is hardly helping matters. Ya people need to know what happened but report it and leave it there. Resources could be better used trying to find cause and solutions to why. Part of this is copy-cat syndrome. Some mental health issues. Some socioeconomic issues. Drugs and alcohol. ad nauseum.....
