Now this could be thought of as a fuel surcharge.... From Agriweek:

"Just when it looked like regulatory affairs in Ontario could not possibly get any crazier, along comes Diane Saxe.
She is the province’s new environment commissioner, an advisor to the government but reporting only to the legislature.
Her first priority: persuade the government to eliminate the tax reduction on diesel fuel used in farming, construction
and resource industries. She ‘reasons’ that a fuel subsidy encourages fossil energy use and also that the benefit
goes disproportionately to large users. It takes profound stupidity to imagine that farmers use more fuel than necessary to grow their crops or that the price of fuel has any effect on the amount used. The tax abatement, which is 14 cents per litre, saves farmers and other eligible users $190 million a year, which Saxe considers to be a subsidy."

The NDP in Alberta has started taxing farm Diesel.... now Ontario takes the example with fondness... We are open season to be hunted and taxed.

To be fair the fuel tax was from Prentice although there is no tax the NDP does not think is good. As far as I can tell it is just that the Farm Fuel Benefit no longer covers the full amount of tax on fuel in Alberta ei Tax = 0.13 AFFB= 0.09. Is there any other tax on farm fuel in AB?

Fuel tax would be ok if we had highways instead of goat paths.

The amount of time that tractors spend on the highways is minimal.

Farmaholic, are you talking about fuel surcharges that transport companies are still trying to use?

That is a ridiculous surcharge which should've never existed. You bid the job you bid the job! You clowns. Stop off loading your risk management off on to the producer or end user.

Don't worry iceman... we're cutting our own throats as it is. If you move anything by a broker, you're getting a steal. Dispatch booked me for a load @ $18/mt for a 300 mile haul. Yippee
