The infrastructure... farmaholic is right.... irrigation.

Hodgeville concrete was built there. Right or wrong it's there.

It was at the end of the line which meant it could could have been expanded to 112 car spot just like Gardiner dam terminal near loreburn.

And infrastructure could have been built to make it into swift current from that point allowing two way traffic between swift current and moose jaw fairly cheap.

No money in a packing plant but nilson Bros get the auction commission on every cow in the province?

Listening from Alberta when Brad Wall speaks I like what I hear. Not living in Saskatchewan I obviously can speak from experience. As for leading the federal conservatives he would certainly be more saleable than Harper, younger and more charismatic. He is not bilingual and not interested. I would simply like a Conservative leader with a positive message. Trudeau spins a positive message....if you believe in unicorns lol!

Not sure why being bilingual is a prerequisite for the job.

Bilingualism has been a costly experiment in canada both financially and politically.

That was supposed to read can't speak from experience. As for the bilingual requirement Canada has 2 official languages whether you like it or not. As an Albertan I don't consider it a necessity but I am sure a French speaking Quebecer would.

But don't we end up shorting ourselves for good people for the top job?

Any time you put certain qualifications on a job you limit the talent pool. Would you accept a unilingual french speaking person running for the leadership of a federal party? I realize Stephen Dion was close still technically bilingual.

Bucket, it isn't up to the provincial government to fix a SWP screwup. Transportation is a federal responsibility. I for one wouldn't want the provincial government buying or running a railway.

I think local farmers should have stepped up and shown leadership. Too many people like Bucket that bitch and do nothing.

                  Irrigation, don't know the story.

Packing plants are thin margins flat out ,no question. Nilsson brothers is a bad example. Don't see them still in the packing business. Auction markets different story.

                  Be clear in your argument.

I think really, when you have a person who is an effective communicator. Who speaks clearly and moderately on many subjects, people feel a connection.

I think people see that in Brad Wall and would like to see that on the National level.

Personally, I have a great deal of respect for Brad Wall and would like to see him run federally, but would be surprised if he does.

It is a totally different gig than being a provincial premier. I expect him to probably want to be the longest sitting premier of Saskatchewan in history and then take a senate seat or ambassadorship appointment.

It would be interesting if provinces owned the railways. It would work if provinces got along.
