In 2015, I lost my father after watching him suffer with debilitating dementia for over decade. Lost my best friend since childhood. Half of my neighbours are unemployed with no prospects for improvement. New Communist Party is in power, and the federal gov is even worse. The tragic farm accident this fall hit very close to home.

On the bright side, no hail or floods this year(no rain either). Wife and family are healthy and have put up with me for another year. Bank isn't knocking on the door. Doing what I love, with opportunities for lots of other options. Bins are full, feed yard is overflowing, cows are still grazing on Dec 8. Very slim chance that I run out of work to do on the farm( convincing the cheap owner to pay me for any of it is another story). I can't complain too much, none of us in this industry can, we are living a life that is only a dream for most, with a net worth and an income that is unattainable for most. With freedoms and government support that is unheard of in any other industry. Sometimes, events like happened this year make one slow down and appreciate what we do have.

Lost my dad 19 years ago tomorrow. He was such a peaceful guy. Reminds me of the saying, "I'd rather have my neighbors than my neighbors land." He always seemed satisfied with what he had. Unlike some today. I took a drive yesterday and spotted a track hoe digging. Already had a mile long ditch done 5 or 6 feet deep and all the trees piled up. Just can't get enough.

That ditch is probably illegal. In Manitoba he would face big fines.

I seem to be enjoying the organic farming. Half a crop and 2.5 X the price. I should take that back, I spent the weekend changing hoses on a tandem truck box up in the air. That was just weird scary. No choice but to hug the cylinders and pull the wrenches. Blocks at the box end and front end loader with forks tucked in there for backup.
End of day drinks just to relax the nerves a little. Sometimes you can't just hire that stuff out.
Family is healthy, I have a handful of very good friends, you know the kind....they advised me to buy a baler when I announced I was changing to organic farming...This farm is nothing to look at, but .I am far more content now, than I was chasing the economies of scale unicorn.
The wife still whispers those three little words in my ear every night when I scooch into bed.... Stooooop touching me!

Dad ****ed off when I was ten never seen him seen him since guess it hurt feeding them damn cows sure did.

Did a six week stint in princess Margaret hospital toronto with the worlds biggest gun pointed at my head. If you need to see a differnt reality goto to the brain cancer floor. Most physically beautiful thing you have ever seen. Dont think ill ever get over the mothers and their bald children though. And there is me 6'2 200 pound farm boy thinking /knowing it was no big deal King Kong himself would have a hard enough time with me but I guess it was hard

Fast foreword there is a pain in this world that dwarfs all else i honestly pray from the bottom of my heart no one goes through it here

Its when she stops muttering those words, because your not, I would be worried for yourself!!

Until then, it's an odds thing, sooner or later you'll "get lucky"!!! Be persistent.

                Good "luck". LOL

Hobby, next time you do that, take 2 big pipe the right length. Weld a short piece of channel on each one. Wedge em in on box crossmembers or tip sill. Other end on solid or blocked ground. If you really want a reason to drink, after you clean your shorts, on purpose, lower that box on those wedges you put at hinge area. Cuts em in half or spits em out. Front loader lopsided. Just sayin.

Anyway, 2015 was my most stressfull in many years. Wont add to that. But will say I obviously need to grasp some new methods of dealing with stress. What worked before isnt working very well anymore. Age and experience is supposed to make it easier but Im just *** tired. Weary of all the shit dripping off my shoulders, fk there tired of the weight.

BUT, I read some stories on here and my pity party seems awful weak. Just saying stress can be Chronic and Cumulative!
Its normal in life. But its how you deal with it that counts.
On a lighter note, my doctor prescribed sex. Now thats funny right there!

That really puts things into perspective about what's important.

                      Have a Merry Christmas.
