    Canola 2015Production 16mmt ???

    DTN Report in part:

"The spoiler-alert in the canola market is that despite estimated demand increasing by 600,000 mt in this report(including an upward revision of 50,000 mt to feed/waste and dockage), there exists a school of thought that 2015 production could be as high as 16 mmt, which would require a 1.7 mmt upward revision to existing production estimates. This column mentioned the possibility last week based on conversations with industry, while AAFC also mentioned the possibility.

The other major shift in demand was seen with a 300,000 mt increase in lentil exports. This would represent a similar volume shipped in 2014/15 and the possibility of record export volumes.

Cumulative data to the end of September reported by Statistics Canada shows a total of nearly 415,000 mt shipped in the first two months of this crop year, 40% higher than the same period last year and 48% above the average pace of the past three years.

This volume is also higher than the steady pace needed to reach the 2.2 mmt target. Ending stocks have been revised lower to 100,000 mt, just 4% of expected use, while Saskatchewan Agriculture has estimated lentil yield slightly higher than current Stats Can projections. This suggests that upward revisions of 2015 production could be expected on Dec. 4, which may add to year-end stocks depending on the pace of exports."

The same blog also mentions that further upward revisions to both domestic use and exports are possible.

Everyone I have talked to is pleasantly surprised with their canola yields. An upward revision by stats can next week is probable. What does everybody feel the future direction of the market is and why?

Oh, that's just what we need to depress the price! They aren't taking into account how much has heated and is sitting on a smouldering pile.

Nope , just like all the weathered bleached and sprouted wheat that still shows up in the same pile of wheat supplies as #1 hrsw - same as green pea supplies.

Seen some canola still in swath the other yesterday. Some canola is probably too green to crush so no upward revision would be credible.

Doesn't seem like anyone wants to pay for quality. When it comes to "good" wheat or (here's a good one) #2, "OR BETTER" peas. Geeze when I want to buy the highest model of anything I don't get it for the price of the model under it!!!

There is still a field of standing canola that was seeded into a sprayed out hayfield about 2 miles from me. It never came up until mid to late summer when it rained enough to germinate it, except in the low spots (not much) they were swathed and picked up...the rest is standing there.

Farmaholic you are right. And) they are dreaming up new ways to discount top grades to boot. Fading is the new one in green peas as well as bleach. So now not only do your peas have to be 2% bleach or less , any faded peas are counted as well - all to get the premium price that is still $1.50 less than yellows peas. It's become a *** in joke.
To meet those specs those green peas should demand $12 minimum
Same with to make #1 hrsw , if they find one single mouldy kernel your at a #2. That's fine but the price for almost impossible #1 should be reflected in the pit price and it's not even close either at this time.

You guys need to take a Valium...

As if this isn't VERY old news... I am really impressed that the short crop threat jacked up demand... and therefore put a bottom into prices I wouldn't have predicted!

Cinderella is being very very good to our farm this year!!!

A Miracle that if it can be repeated... would make canola farming fun!!! Thank You Jesus!!!

Those Fabas should be able to be skimmed off the top of the snow in reasonable condition in a frozen state. Good week coming up... how deep is the snow Freewheat?
