    Killing Frost ?

looks like we are going into november without a frost . We have -1 or -2 for a couple hours 3 or 4 times but that is it ! Monsanto canola blooming all over the country . really odd fall . we finished spraying roundup but never got the 4 or 5 degrees of frost that always make roundup kill the hard weeds better

Why not spray some more? You have a big sprayer might as well make use of it.
You have the time now, you can get the right chemical to kill the volunteer RR canola. Save moisture and nutrients for next year. You might even get a year end inventory clearance discount on chemical.

About the same here caseih, -3 on three different nights. Volunteer canola now above the stubble and blooming. Guys that sprayed everything incrop preharvest or just really early sure have a heavy mat of growth(cereals particularly) sucking up the nitrogen. Some tried harrowing, it looked better for a couple days, then after the first shower, all the growth was obvious again. I've always understood that volunteer growth in the fall like we're seeing, really sucks up the nutrients. I bet on a el Niño fall and delayed my spraying, so glad I did now. (Also through in some 2,4-D when covering the RR canola stubble).

Ya cotton I'd say they're late too. Neighbours usually have a big goose hunt Thanksgiving weekend, this year all that was available for them to shoot at were the local birds. They made out all right just the same, and in a way I was happy to see some of the local geese culled down.

We have been -10 twice lately. But doesn't seem to have killed the straight cut canola. Still blooming away. Yesterday the ice in a 5 gallon pail never did melt.
