    Flax Bull Market?

Demand world wide for its omega 3 and glutten free properties is exploding. But crops here took the June drought especially hard. I think its fair to say yields plain ole sucked for most. On top of that a fair bit rolled itself into beaver huts. The market doesn't have a sniff yet that supply is not going to meet demand. Its not worth growing for $12 bucks imo.

    I agree, less than $12, I won't be planting.
Re Triffid testing, didn't plant any this past spring, but thinking I remember hearing something about NOT having to test for Triffid anymore. Am I remembering that right? No test for seed(farmer kept seed), and no test in the fall on production???

My guess is China hasn't stepped up yet.
Also as of week 10 there was 50,000 tonnes in primary elevators, plenty for right now.

I think you have to test for triffid , that little added expense for farmers incurred by someone else will probably never go away . richardson was taking some without for Chinese markets as far as I know . $12 is our bottom also . have some priced for $13 and a bit above $13 and that's what it will take to get the rest, plus storage

Flax was the only decent crop here yields around 30. And lots of acres.

If I remember correctly, a terminal manager told me no test is required for U.S. or China but Europe still requires a test. I'm not sure about other destinations. Apparently the positive test results have fallen dramatically. The Flax Council probably has better answers....maybe.

Late flax yielded very good before the wind.Lots seeded.when I started combining and seen the yield phoned in and took a 12.50 contract. They told me where it will be going no tiffid test required unless things change.

Which would you rather grow 30 bu of 12$ flax or 60 bu of 6$ wheat or 103 bu of 3.50$ barley?

Which is more likely to occur?

30 bushels of $21 red lentils or 45 bushels of $10.50 canola, flax went 20, wheat went 60.

Flax a pain in arse for weed control and to harvest
