Works ok. Can spray a couple times in crop to control volunteers. Next time I do it I might get up to 60 to 70 pounds of n.

Nufarm’s cereal herbicide Enforcer M has picked up approval for an expanded label allowing its use in canary seed crops, and its use on more weeds and in more tank mixes.
Enforcer, a post-emergent herbicide previously labelled for use in spring, winter and durum wheat and barley, is applied from the three-leaf to flag-leaf stage for control or suppression of a “wide range” of broadleaf weeds, including cleavers, kochia and wild buckwheat, Nufarm says. Weed Control
Early in the growing season, canaryseed develops slowly and competes poorly with weeds. Use clean seed to avoid the spread of weeds. Avoid areas where volunteer cereal competition is anticipated. Do not seed canaryseed on flax stubble, as the two seeds are difficult to separate. Delayed seeding to control early flushes of annual weeds with cultivation can lead to reduced yields, late maturity and straw that will not easily thresh at harvest.
Canaryseed is not appropriate for post-emergent harrowing, as the small seedlings are removed as easily as weed seedlings.
Most annual weed species can be controlled by herbicides. Herbicides registered for the control of wild oats in canaryseed are Avadex MicroActiv® and Avenge®. A number of grassy weed herbicides will cause severe injury or death to canaryseed, and care must be taken to avoid drift of these products onto the crop. Research conducted with Puma 120 Super on canaryseed has found that it will cause severe injury to the crop. Symptoms include yellowing, severe stunting, weakened stems increasing the risk of lodging, and yield loss.
Canaryseed is also susceptible to a number of herbicide residues in the soil and should not be seeded for at least 24 months after spring trifluralin or Edge®, or 30 months after a fall trifluralin or Edge treatment. Canaryseed should not be seeded until at least the second season following an application of Assert® or Unity®. Fields treated with Ally®, Glean®, Amber®, Muster®, Everest®, Sundance® or Pursuit® should not be sown to canaryseed until a field bioassay determines it is safe to do so. Extended periods without rainfall during the growing season may extend the re-cropping restrictions on residual products. This may also impact waiting periods for products like Odyssey® that do not have restrictions for the following year under normal moisture conditions.

Just be carefull , we have canary seed in the bin we can't sell - 10 years , with vol canola in it .
We had a summer similar to this , dry June and July then some rain.
Local processo's will not touch it.

there is no problem on canola stubble at all. we grew it all on that this year . the most important thing is wild oat control. a real light infestation will severely cut yield . our best yielder was doing over 45 bpa but yield dropped to next to nothing where we had a couple wild oat patches . a lot of people use avadex now prior to seeding . we just use the puma / fronline or puma/prestige mix. not registered but works fairly well. really yellows crop but doesn't cut yield . we call it a growth regulator lol. pick land that is wild oat free to start with and use glyphos/ express sg prior to seeding .

I think a lot of people spray herbicide to early on canary . we let it get quite high . this knocks out all canola , then the glyphos at dessicating takes out the rest , could add heat if it was RR canola. ours was on RR this year and didn't need the heat . we do grow a lot of straw here tho, and usually volunteers are non existant . if we tried 70 #'s N here we would be in trouble , 45-50 lays it flat

Furrow, I don't know but wouldn't spirals separate that mix?

It should but the local buyer still won't touch it . They have spirals so I have no idea wtf the prob is other than it may take some time.
There is a guy with a portable outfit with a Color sorter that can get it done .

Half my Canaryseed goes on Canola stubble every year. Even this year I did not have a problem with volunteers. Prepass and Avadex as pre-seed, EnforcerM in crop.
