ACIDF Steps back from accepting new proposals.
"For the first time since August 2001, ACIDF will not be accepting new proposals.

The ACIDF Board reluctantly closed ACIDF for new applications last week, because of low levels of funds available to the company. The Board hopes this situation will be both short-lived, and a singular event for ACIDF and the crop industry sector.

ACIDF is fully committed for all funding initiatives. There are some financial reserves involved with the WED sponsored Cereal Fractionation Equipment, and these funds may become available to new projects through the winter if current plans go well.

ACIDF is also approaching Minister Carlier regarding continued support."

Basically, because the NDP government won't develop a budget, and won't answer the phone, we have no idea for funding commitments for new projects. What a gong show here in Alberta.

It's already there. Farmers paying more to move crops wider basis etc.

Meanwhile the rest of the industry gets grants thru grow forward 2 in disguise of helping farmers bottom line. Nothing to show for it yet.

It's unfortunate the the Alberta NDP won't release a budget until after the federal election.

Likely don't want to scare off potential federal NDP voters.

Certainly wouldn't want the ND's job right now....left with a dismal deficit, major downturn...at least they are taking their time. It won't be an easy job, and they haven't got the arrogance of the PC's....yet, so won't make major changes quickly, just election promises.
Think Prentice may have done his exit on purpose....knowing what was coming......

The Alberta NDP has their work cut out for them all right. For years they've promised the economically impossible and the naive followers who believed the pixie dust fairy tales will be looking for a new Utopian world to unfold.

There's no budget yet because if it's factual, it will be a whopper of a deficit. If it's sugar coated with $100/barrel oil, it will be transparently shown to be a fairy tale. Either way it would reflect badly on the federal NDP if released now. Best way to help the federal NDP is to not to be transparent until its to late for the voters to do anything about it.

As an Albertan, I'm afraid of the $#!^storm thats coming here, especially if Mulcair manages to be part of any new federal government and looks to Alberta as a funding source for the massive spending plans.

Rather early to be blaming the NDP for Alberta's woes. I am not saying they won't be a disaster (I certainly hope that will not be the case) but they have inherited the mess and the current economic situation.

So far I am good with what they have done, but will admit, I am leery on what is too come....but will give them the chance.

This is a prediction of future behaviour they do not understand that business is the fuel of public service.
