Japan looking to Canada and Australia...

Chatter on twitter about Japan looking to buy wheat and not looking at the USA because of GMO wheat. Will have to watch basis levels here as the three U.S. wheat markets won't reflect this very well, if true. In fact U.S. markets may actually drop on this news. Like to hear what are other's thoughs are, on getting a market signal for wheat, if countries are looking to import from "other than" USA?

To correct, the only wheat impacted is soft white wheat from the PNW states.

From my observations, the overall wheat markets
have not been impacted by the RR gene discovery in
Oregon white wheat. Many other factors in the
market that are completely over shadowing this issue.
The Oregon wheat industry is being impacted but we
don't grow very much of this type of wheat and ours
has quite different quality parameters. Australia from
what I understand has most of their crop committed
and again produces slightly different white wheat.

Are other perceiving a difference in the market
      specific to this issue?

Too bad seeding was well under way. Sounds like an opportunity. More to come.

            Mark these words.

2 years from now japan won't be able to buy a bushel
            of grain.
