Tuesday May 21 Saskatchewan SPCA confiscated approximately 287 head of Angus/Longhorn cross cattle, calves, yearlings, steers. They left behind approximately 80 head. In my opinion at least 95% of the cattle are in fair to good shape. A few calves were hauled without the mothers, and vise versa. The pairs to date still have not been matched up and one calf has already died in the pound. The bill to round up and haul these cattle is already in excess of $42,000 and rising. The SPCA wanted three animals put down or treated, and they were left on the farm still running around. When SPCA and the help under their hire left the farm, they left gates open, grain bin door open, and grain on the ground and in pails fully accessible by the cattle and horses left behind. The supposedly distressed cattle were chased up to 4 miles down the road to the portable corrals for loading. These are neighbors, hard working honest men willing to drop everything to help out their neighbors. They were picked up by the RCMP prior to the round up, stripped down to their underwear and put in jail till 1:00 am in the morning. Now the cattle are supposedly owned by the SPCA. Will likely be a sale at Assiniboia Livestock Auction the first week in June. The original owners are allowed to buy back as many animals as they like. I'm thinking these guys need a good lawyer, but are having a hard time finding one. If the best animals were taken, and the few that needed care were left behind, what did these SPCA bastards accomplish, except to take away the livelihood of two hard working honest men.

hi seabass there has bean a few yearly inspections and feed shortages in the past but these two brothers have made big improvements this year , I just have a hard time understanding why the spca haled away the good breading animals and left a few that needed care but could not catch. I am thinking the spca is trying to see how far they can flex there muscle.

Document everything.
Pictures, videos, whatever. If this is indeed a story of some bureaucrat trying to justify his existence by picking on a farmer, then this needs to be expunged, but you need proof. Pictures are worth far more than testimonials after the fact.
