    Pulse Markets

Just wondering if any of you are following the pulse (peas and lentils). There has been a spurt of export activity this spring to point supplies are going to tighten up significantly from winter indications. Saskatchewan weather will also be impacting acreage seeded to these crops. And yet almost the entire Agriville conversation is about canola. The cereal crops are also being impacted and yet no comments.

They have softened a bit in the last week or 2 but yes it looks very encouraging for Red Lentils.. If they don't drown out I anticipate them to be the margin leader by far.

Indian demand was incredibly hot for both reds and greens a month ago. TOday demand has seriously eroded. In fact it is almost impossible to make new sales on red lentils, old or new crop and markets have fallen by $75/MT. We are about to enter into empty bin season and prices will likely soften from here if we dont get new demand come in.
