In a round about way,is anyone else worried about
this all ending in every seed being purchased every
year at a very inflated cost?

I think Tom posted a while back about seed
Technology being excempt from patent laws?

If they are not,then that old bin of 5440 canola is off
patent and i can seed it,with out tech fee?

UPOV -91 laws are being looked at right now.
Farm saved seed is still exempt. IMO Where
they will likely change is End point
Royalties. This will be a contract with seed
developers that you will pay a royalty on
tonnage sold. For example $3.00 tonne on some
amazing variety that gives you all the
potential you ask for. Might be $1 on a
lesser/older variety. They might give you
the seed to get a $10/ tonne royalty on the
back end.

I would like to see an end point royalty. I think it
would be a fair way to go. I have my doubts
whether it will happen in my lifetime.

Oneoff. Do you grow canola. How much would
canola be if china closed their borders because of
non tariff barriers and 2 million tonne hit the
market. This is one example and If you want to
get into a detailed discussion of eveything that is
done lets do it. If you don't think commissions and
organizations don't bring you value maybe dig a
bit deeper to see what is all done. As to your
comment about paying Gerrids wage, when you
committ to organizations like Gerrid has, trust me
more money goes out then comes in. Much much

it doesn't matter what people donate their
money to. Oneoff might donate to a chuch, or
health charity in great amounts. Might be the
worlds greatest coach? Maybe his/her cause is
internet tough guys looking for a new lair.
Its their own business.

for some issues. Others need time and staff.

Checkoffs are not donations. Neither are they in the same class as those free will gifts that any person is free to make or not make. That point should not have been needed to have been made.

As for whether you are correct in whether I think things through or not...again how dare you judge anyone without making yourself vulnerable to the same criticism. Others may just question your judgement too.

Too bad you don't support a persons right to have absolutely nothing to do with organizations (or individuals) such as you have positions on. That is a solution that should please people such as yourself; and yet it is not good enough for you.

I have matched wits with classes of persons as intelligent as any Gus has ever been associated with. And relying on testimonials is one of the weakest defences that one may have at their disposal. Similarly copping out by saying "got to do the important seeding work" indicates that the argument arsenal has been totally depleted.

Let go of farmers wallet books. You have no business with your hands in farmers pockets. And the bull shit issues you feel are well beyond ordinary farmers comprehension; should have been examined decades ago. I can see why you do not wish those issues to be understood fully.

I've had lots of face to face positive
encouragement for the time I've spent in Ag
policy. All of the negative has been
faceless screen names.
So unless your one of the slacktivists that

I plan on running for the BOD for the Sask
Wheat Commission this fall, let's see who has
differing opinions? I may be wrong but at
least I'll put my name to my thoughts.

As far as saying I've got work to do being a
poor argument. Well we never got any rain so
I've trucks to fill. If you don't understand
that, I question how much you really know
about the farm.

I just bet you have subscribed to some Codes of Conducts and Codes of Ethics.

Bet the first thing that comes to mind is that I am the last one entitled to lecture you on such matters. My point being that considering your position of power ; you should be held to better behavior standards than someone who counts for as litlee as someone such as me. You have conducted yourself as a bully and tyrant.

As such I claim injury as an unwilling contributor of funds and at the same time; being held in such low esteem by leaders such as yourself.

And further; since you have never expressed an ounce of interest in any of my other opinions; I would only consider debating you with somewhat equal resources and soapboxes of approximately the same surface elevation.

As for my input into policies such as the Canadian Grains Commission changes; I will refer you to several thousand words that I have taken the time to publish on this very forum.

I suggested changes to bonding; improved timeliness of payment by shortening weighing, grading and paperwork processes. Those necessary changes, which I had previously discussed with an "Atradius" manager; the commisioner himself and several compliance officers and audit personelle over the last year, are essential to avoiding as many payment defaults as possible;and claims on the bonding and licencing system which has been proven to be somewhat deficient.

As I recall; there was very little traction with many other farmers; (an I certainly don't recall anything positive coming from anyone called Gus). Anyway you sound like a big boy; and maybe you could learn to use a search engine on this site; or perhaps even learn to "Google". My fear is that you just don't ever listen to any information that doesn't confirm that which you already know. I am also under no illusion that you are in any way interested in such ideas......are you???.
