Hey Cotton, is Barrick a buy today you think?

Or is someone else safer instead like G,
AEM, SLW etc???? Thinking about doing
    something today.

Barrick, in my opinion, has never been a buy. I've done well with Gold Corp, and a friend has done well with Yamana. All the gold miners have been beat down lately, but those two have a better track record overall than Barrick.

That's just an opinion, and not investment advice.

Havent done the recent leg work to give a 100%
opinion.Been out of companies for quite some time.

I *** hate barrick, back in the day, they where apart of
the price suppresion scheme and forward selling their
production way out at as low of a price as they could
find,I'm not sure but i believe the hedge has been
        unwound.

The whole sector cant gain any traction, average
mining costs is 1280 an ounce, cost push inflation at
        its finest.

I keep an eye on the hui as a timing guide it looks to
        be getting close to bottom.

Goldcorp is probably the one of the best.

Funny story about this,9-10 years ago when i got into
this,i walked into the local edward jones and told the
guy i wanted to buy some goldcorp and he said he
would refuse to buy any for me,he said the only
company he would sell me in the sector was barrick
but that was a stupid move he then went on
preaching about the dow bla, bla, bla,i walked out
          shaking my head in amazement.

I wonder if he has even bothered to check his premise
          after g's 1000 percent move,i doubt it.

Thanks to you both. Much appreciated.
            I think I'll go with G instead. I still
like the business model of Silver Wheaton
as well to though. They are a little more
            predictable than a mining company.

My favorite right now is Argonaut, AR on the tsx. Check it out I am not buying now cause gotta pay off some other debts but if I wanted a gold miner and someone expanding and looks more promising I would buy Argonaut. Its your choice I just suggest to check them out.

Burbert, I dont agree with most of your posts, but
this time, I do. At least you can have fun at the
casino. The corruption and creative accounting in
the stock market is a travesty. I know people who
have gone public just to fill their own pockets and
have gotten away scott free, with pockets full and
guess what happened to the investors. Think that
is characteristic of small caps-I very much doubt
                    it.
