There are two sides to a story. Best to try and
understand both sides, the risks and
opportunities. 99 % of the people in my
community have no idea what is or might be going
on, what is discused in this thread, and why gold
and sliver might be the ultimate investment.

My opinion aint worth much, but I think a little
gold, a lot of silver coins, a pile of cold cash,
solar heat, a deep well right under your quonset
and a ton of dino-mite Then you've got
      insurance.

I know of Kitco and Aulburn Coins in Calgary.
Cheapest in Calgary, no tax. Also, when no tax,
maybe no trace, who knows? Stuff the old
mattress, who needs a good nights sleep?

Hope it never happens here, but never too
serious if you lose a few bucks. The thing I would
worry about, is no food, no cash and no way to
protect my family if the crap ever did hit the fan.
But we's got a great life and all's well --- today.

Clearly owning 'hard physical assets' will be
managements best practice. As other countries inflate
their currency... our real assets will increase in value.
Like day follows night and summer follows spring!

        Cheers

Rumour on zero hedge the russians where able to
make withdraws during chaos week through
subsidiaries, which could mean a 100% wipe out on all
uninsured deposits and everything over 100k,kind of
doubt its true, but if it is,ouch.

Thought i should write something about cyprus for
those interested but may not follow very closely to
what is happening, and mainstream media actually
            makes you stupider.

The cyprus banking system was over 7x the counties
gdp and i dont know exactly what their leverage was
but its safe to guess well over 20 to 1.This is a
combination of total assets to tier 1 assets(which are
            considered 100% solid.)

So basically a 5% write down of assets renderers them
            insolvent
and the sector is so huge their was no real means for
cyprus to re-capatilize their tier 1 assets.

This is why europe is such a mess, with a week central
authority and nation states that hate eachother it
cannot accomplish what the americans did.The north
doesnt want to bail out the south,in america most are
to stupid to relize they are bailing out private
            institutions and unproductive members.

But this is just getting started, there are a HUGE
number of banks throught europe that are zombie
            banks that need bailouts.

            Canadas are around 2x gdp,not as scary,with 15ish
leverage ratios(from the numbers i can find,i dont
know how cmhc is dealt with in these numbers,i dont
know how accurate the numbers even are, just
published stuff, many things can be hidden).

The us sector is around .56 to gdp.Which is scary how
            low compared to ours.

We may need to recap or not,i'm not sure, foreign
capital flows may do it for us,but if we do the hit to
            tax payers would be significant.
