16.5Billion gal for renewable fuels in US

EPA Proposes Change in RFS — The Environmental
Protection Agency is proposing a mandate of 16.5
billion gallons for renewable fuels this year, an
increase of nearly nine percent from 2012. This
standard includes ethanol, advanced biofuels, such as
biodiesel, and cellulosic ethanol. The EPA is also
proposing a new voluntary quality assurance program
for buyers of Renewable Identification Numbers to
    verify their validity.

    correct me if I'm wrong.
    Are not biofuels becoming increasingly
    unprofitable? More evidence that they
    aren't broke enough yet.

I don't think that the EPA recognizes budget concerns. That is unless some of their more progressive staff seek to bankrupt our economy as quickly as possible.
