    off topic i know

    im about to embark off to the unknown
    world of dieting back from holidays
    beaching surfing fishing new year new
    attitude.

    got the goodies from supermarket im
    away.

    funny alot of guys around here have done
    atkins for a month then sort of a
    modified low carb diet and kept the
    intial wieght loss with a few more
    veggies and fruit than reccommended so
    sort of a 85% atkins diet if that makes
    sense.

    wish me luck might even post a b4 and
    after mug shot

    Going pretty good,on holidays now so just sort of
    in the maintence stage of atkins,keeping carbs
    around 100 grams a day,like what you where
    describing,very easy to do,dont have major
    hunger feelings so dont know if my body can
    access ketones on demand now or whats going
    on???experment in progress i guess.

    Good luck,the first part is by far the hardest,keep
    us posted on how your doing.

        Guess I have to shove my fingers down my
        throat cause I just ate a pan of home-made
        cinnamon buns baked with whipping cream - too
        gooey. Should I purge mysel, Cott? I am so
        embare assed.

            Christmas and Disney were tough to stay on maintenance but did and that is what is surprising. Watch what you eat and how much proportion size you take.
            Hell in my hay day could have eaten the big steak at the Keg and had a pitcher of beer with a desert on the side and still went out and partied with a pizza for late snack.

              so you cant really eat as much as you
              want then think i misunderstood that not
              that i am gorging myself

              im on day 2 scambled eggs for breakfast
              salad and cold cuts for lunch
              tonight fish asparagus cheese and
              alittle dressing plus salad drinking
              plenty of water

              no beer milk wine or coke etc and no
              sugar but i am still having black coffee
              or tea no sugar or is that a no no?

              done all the reading but its abit
              conflicting at times with what the
              atkins purists say

                Mallee you have better access to fresh veggies and fruit. In Canada easy to get into the rut of pasta and bread and potatoes. Myself I am also trying to reduce the carbs now just as experiment, but the extra vodka and water seems to counter the benefits. I like the idea of having ribeye on the barbee tonight and not worry of the extra fat in the meat it tastes so good plus I will be a hero to my daughter lol. I will try to wear it off on the snowmobile.

                    Absolutly no fruit,and only a few leafy
                    vegatables,and non that grow in the ground,even
                    tomatoes have more carbs than you think.

                    You loose more by eating more,especially eating
                    a big breakfast,your body starts burning fat,i made
                    this mistake myself in the begining and my body
                    went into starvation mode and started using
                    calories more efficently along with other metobolic
                    functions,when i adjusted and ate more i lost
                    more,the laws of thermodinamics do not apply in
                    the conventional sense.

                    Eggs are about the best thing in the world for
                    you,condiments are such a small count in carbs
                    and such a bonus in eating i dont count to hard on
                    them,mayonasise is o and encouraged.

                    The best thing you can do is know how many
                    carbs are in a food as soon as you look at it takes
                    time and study but you need to do it.

                    The jury seems to be out when it comes to
                    fibre,latest news i know of is that it will spike
                    insulin,which is the enemy,but the new atkins
                    uses it as a minus net carbs bla,bla,bla to
                    technical to get into right now,i will later if you
                    want me to.

                    Coffee is fine and diet drinks,some suggest an
                    insulin spike with artificial sweeteners in
                    anticipation of a sugar dose about to hit the blood
                    stream,but ime and many others believe this to be
                    untrue.

                    I supplement with omega
                    3,potassium,calcium,magnesium and
                    salt,technical stuff i can describe later if anyone is
                    interested.
