    Nitrogen Availability

I have already bought my urea & ESN for use next year. Now my problem is actually taking delivery of it.

The retailer that I purchased the N from says that the manufacturer wont release the product, so I can't get my blend home.

Is anyone else having this problem right now?

I wanted to purchase all my fertilizer for next season N, P & S - but they say they can't deliver. In the mean time, the price keeps going up and there is no way I can lock the price in without taking delivery - which they won't do. Does this sound like a scam to anyone else?

Not sure what's going on in the west. Ours is all booked, and the N hasn't even crossed the Atlantic from Egypt yet.

Don't post often but had to reply to this thread. The input situation is absolutely ridiculous. I have been asking my retailers for weeks to quote me a price for fertilizer for Jan 1 and they just won't give me a price. Basically if I am not going to take delivery within the next day or two they can't guarentee a price. Incredibly frustrating. I wish I was in a business where I could jsut cut way back on production, force prices sky high and make more for doing less. My experience with Invigour seed this year has also been awful. Seed retailers came around in september!!!!! asking to book business, but had no prices available. No prices!!!!!!!!! What the hell kind of business can you go to your customer and say, "you should buy this from us seven months before you need it so we can earn interest off your money and you can pay interest to the bank and we don't know how much it will cost you when we deliver and you can't compare prices with other retailers because you don't know the price, but just guarentee us your business and we will decide how much to charge you later. Thanks for nothing a-holes.

The Canadian Fertilizer industry needs to be investigated by competition Bureau and put some meat on the Fines not just a slap on the wrist.
Right now trains and trucks of fert are leaving Sask daily for the USA but we are being told their is a shortage of supply. I am just back from the States and they seem to be putting down what they need. Trains sitting on sidelines full of product for next spring yet in Canada no supply.
Some one with some balls please investigate this industry.

Here is what US family Members are paying Now with no supply problems.
              Fertilizer
Cash or Prepaid price per ton

              82-0-0 $540.00

              28-0-0 $360.00

              46-0-0 $455.00

              11-52-0 $475.00

              18-46-0 $490.00

              10-34-0 $460.00

              0-0-60 $360.00

Siply if you want your anhydrous for next spring its $540.00 a ton, now convert to canadian ton short to long etc and its .33 a lb not 42 in canada etc, and this is booking for next spring. HM are we getting screwed you bet.

MB farmer, why don't you take delivery now? The price could go either way with our higher dollar and all but its better to have product than risking no product.
