    Late Harvest

    Some wheat coming off south of Calgary is still grading a #3 moisture as low as 17%. Standing barley @16% moisture is being accepted as malt as long as the germ is their.

    Rain;

    We did 500ac in 18hrs...

    Dryer going...

    Trucks full of grain on ice...

    Will take a day to clean inside of combines...

    Much grain is being harvested!

    "Rainbow Combining" spray off machines...

    "liquid canola" water running off bottom of dryers working on Canola...

    "it's not cold enough to Combine" looking to -8C so ice and snow will pass through machines...

    "It is above freezing, turn off the Fan" Grain on Ice waiting for dryer...

    WHAT A YEAR!!!

      Has anybody thought of building a machine to separate ice chunks and snow out of canola? Or is there a machine on the market that with some adaptation could accomplish this? When it is cold at night, canola can be combined but a lot of the ice and snow ends up in the tank. Too much to dry out with a grain drier. Of course, the separation would have to be done at -8 degrees or less just like the combining.

        Screen seperators are being used here... so only ice the same or smaller than the Canola remains...

        Batch drying the Canola does work... the water runs out the bottom... then the Canola can finish drying.
