Stuck with the swather 6 times today.

Well the swather showed up tonight and gave it a go, but it looks like a no go. It is a modern case, was too late to see the number, will let you know tomorrow. He promptly sunk after making a couple passes. Gunna try in broad daylight tomorrow, but looks pretty hopeless. I never knew it was so wet. A neighbor is gunna try with his brand new macdon too.

We shall see. I was wondering how the canola ripened so fast. Well, I think I have the answer. It swathed itself. I think the soil is so saturated that it ironically killed the plants, kind of what you see in the low areas with standing water where it looks even more dead ripe. It just happened later on the rest of the field.

The swather guy said he couold not believe how wet it was. We had to walk half mile to the truck and it was juicy the whole way. He was wearing work boots and got a real treat at the standing water areas.

Good news is once the heavy canopy is removed, it does dry with a bit of sun half well. I wondered about taking it straight, but am worried that the soil will not get back into shape unless that covering is removed...

Flotation tires can help you get through alot of trouble spots but can also get you further into "trouble".

Had to get parts today up north there must have been over 10 fields that are obviously going to be straight cut due to waterlogged fields. Bunch of nuts!

Free wheat, where are the you? What a disappointment! Is the Canola yielding well?

I am north east of Wadena. I have no idea what the canola is yielding yet, not much has been combined at all. The canola of mine in question looks like it should be mid forties or so, if we can get it before it shells out, and if the soil supports the combine.. Rest of my canola not as good cuz of hail in July. Might average forty.

Rear Wheel assist and Big Rice tires will go through almost anything... just do not load hopper too full.

We had a fall like that... loaded everything at the field approaches... Rice tires are the Cheapest/easiest except for finding a track machine custom that can do the trick!
All the best; There are scads of good used Combines this year... finding a good track machine could pay off... lease it and see how you like it!

Tom, the trouble is, I am not very well off, so telling someone I can not pay the lease for a few months is a big issue. I simply am not in a position that many are to do stuff like that: I wish I were, but I ain't.

I am less worried about combining it in a couple weeks than I am about getting it down.

Bucket: Unlike some on here, I honestly do not keep tabs on whether I agree or disagree with others. I am easy going and have no idea what if anything we disagree about! lol I don't take things to heart, and dwell on them, like say oh, maybe riders? lol
