Free what, don't listen to Riders, he's obviously nuts. You already straight cut so you don t need a custom harvester. But re your canola, I would advise persevering with the swather. If you don't have pod shatter resistant canola, it will be all shelled out unless it's really lodged.

Some of the guys from the Red River Valley experience this often. Perhaps they can offer some swather insight. My friends that farm at Dugald have your conditions 8 years out of 10.

Just like tom when it didn't affect you life is good everyone else is a nuts but the second it affected you the world has to stand still.

It will depend how wet it really is if it's just pot holes then go around if it's end to end like it is here then.

To the sane responses: I have a custom swather guy willing to rent me his much better machine tomorrow, so I feel better some. Some days just kill you. Yesterday was that kind of day. Glad today has been better.

Folks if you have nothing positive or helpful to post to guys on this forum that are looking for ideas/help or are stressed out then do not waste time adding to thier stress. I do not farm alone so I have partners to help spread the stress... I have nieghbors that do not have that option so guess what I listen to them and try to help them handle stress or offer an opinion if they are asking for one. Do I like taking time - not always but sometimes all they need is some reassurance.

Free what do you have for a swather? Ours had the knife drive xrap out so ee got a 9430 out to finish. Wow what a nice machine compared to the 722 and goes through so much more wet.


Just heard on sask crop report Humboldt got the most rain of anywhere in Sask. 400 and some mils it ain't fun I realize there's a drought in the west side of thr province but slinging mud is no joy either. We seeded end to end and now are swathing around all the same potholes filled with dead canola.

Yeah Freewheat, I was wondering what swather gets stuck so easily. If you have something mid-90s with big flotation rubber I feel bad for your conditions. I have an older 30' MacDon with decent big rubber and it will go where the combines shouldn't follow. If you have an old Versatile 400 with those skinny little pizza-cutters I feel bad for you for a whole 'nother reason.
