    Breaking the Sabbath

Harvest and other operations on many farms have become more the norm than the exception as I remember about keeping Sunday's sacred in my youth.
Father used to tell story about local operator who moved threshing outfit through community and past church while service was on. Was fined by JP. Said he would have been OK except he blew steamer whistle while passing church.

As kids we never worked Sunday morning in seeding and harvest! But afternoons yes we rolled!

When Mother Nature observes it, so will I. Time is of the essence.

We work most Sundays during crunch time. But not too hard or long hours.

Church is when dew is on so after church we harvest/swath when fit to do so. Some never turn a wheel Sundays, then it rained on swaths/hay Monday.

Back in the 70's I knew a couple of young brothers who felt farming should be like any other job and did not work weekends, period! It didn't last too long. FCC sold the farm off to the Hutterites. Somewhere around 6 thousand acres.

Jesus thrashed wheat on the Sabath... Was taken to task for this.
If we are under the new Covenant we will not judge our neighbours but help them!
Worshipping with neighbouring community doesn't take long... But not to lead others into trouble... Which is our Witness then that is important.
Have a great day with family...! Work is a state of mind..! Not a law to perform but relations with other folks including God!

I was raised pretty rigidly, you just did not do much on Sunday. As I grew older, and realized that there is a Bible verse that says, more or less, "if your ass is stuck in a ditch on the Sabbath, you pull it out."

So when it is going to rain, and my ass is dropping out of sight, I do what I can to pull it out...
