PM Harper is likely going to lose this election or at least his Majority. We will see if he has the balls not to appoint if he's losing the election.

As a conservative, I would be pissed if the Shiney Pony or Mulcair won the election and Harper hadn't filled those seats with people that would protect us from a far Left agenda.

other than sending a bill back to the
      house for another look .
      the senate has no power.
they could not stop anything if they wanted.

then basically filling the seats with a bunch of liberal and Conservative hacks
      , is the same old,
      same old .

pay off time for the good old boys.

so nice when you get the taxpayer foot the bill for your party payoffs.

actually i expect nothing less from liberal and con govt.s
if either party had wanted it gone,
they had 140 years to do it .
      a
      and didn't

Equalization has doomed this country and there is little that anyone can do about it. Ontario is the largest sub sovereign debtor in the world and thanks to equalization we are all doomed to pay for it. Ontario and Quebec have as much debt as the Feds. They are our Greece so Canada's got 25 more years. Might as well get rid of the senate now but makes little difference.

I Agree senate has to go... Absolutely but that is a lot of seats for an incoming government to fill. If NDP Win and there are all those empty seats you can bet they would change there tune and be no better than anyone else. Harper would be better off filling with people he could trust to help shut it down.

No one in their right mind after being appointed to the Senate will shut it down.....that's the problem.

Look at harpers appointments to date. Thieves pedophiles and drug addicts.

In other words Duffy Wallin, meredith and brazzeau.

And harper has to take responsibility for the appointments.

Nothing wrong with senate, just the people appointed to it. That is the problem we need to fix.should only serve a 4 yr term.

Every province or territory has the same number of senators.

Much like in the states it's not driven by population it's more important that every area is represented.

If California or new York needs some things done the dakotas will be asked gor help passing it but it comes with a compromise when the dakotas need something. It keeps all informed of each others needs.
