    100 bu canola

Yesterday agritrend and John deere threw out a 100 bpa challenge. First one to do it across 50ac wins a full line of jd equipment for 100 hrs. Thoughts? I think 80 is doable but 100 is a stretch. I'm also not sure it would make a guy anymore money than a 50 but crop

I think water will be the problem. Getting enough on without turning the soil anaerobic.

Strive for 100 bpa and what will the price be in the future?

Yeah that sounds like a money maker across the prairies.

Hetland Seeds at Naicam had a 70.5 bu/acre award to a local farmer in 2013. Not sure on acres, perhaps plots.

This will make Agritrend far more money then for any farmer.

Good for bragging rights. I know my land and management style couldn't come close to that target.

Oh well, I will continue farming in the slum of the ghetto and do my best to accept the limitations.

Interesting, but I am not sure how attainable. Funny, because I had a 50 acres chunk of chem fallow at the end I decided to shoot for the stars on just for fun, and I gave her a pile of everything. And then alfalfa loopers, which I had heard of, but never seen, came in and chomped off my emerging crop, thinning it dramatically.

I got the brakes put on, by a bug that is rarely if ever a canola emergence threat!

So much for that. I was kinda shooting for 80 from a fertility perspective, and if things looked good, she was going to be well treated from then on.

We will see what happens with the strippy, unevenly nibbled stuff.

I punched ideal everything into the the western ag crop caster and the closest I could get was 80. Any more than about 15" of total moisture and things go backwards.
