You know full well I was only 24 years old in 1988. I was still ridding myself regularly of MSB.

I know it was hot that spring working in regina to build a reserve to farm with. I I think everyone got some assistance thru a drought program.

I am pretty sure that it helped everyone whether you were organic or not. Just thought you could shed some light on the program. That's all.

Hey vvwalk, thank god you brought up the hours thing. people don't understand that part of the business at all. What is your time worth? No one factors their time into input cost. Every other business owner pays themselves for their hourly work. In may alone I pit in 408 hours in various seeding operations. WHO DOES THAT IN ANY OTHER JOB!!!!! do the math. 8 hrs a day, 40 hrs a week, 160 hrs a month. Paid holidays on and on and on. Like I said before this Is the reason why western Canadian farmers will never advance is because we cant get along. the name calling and jealousy between farmers is right on par with history."I work harder than you",,"you have a new truck your an asshole",,"I want cheap land but anyone who pays more is a goof",,"if you have to work off the farm you should quit" it goes on and on here and everywhere else. Go ahead,look back and read the comments. Until farmers can band together with a group that works for farmers no matter how big or small this conversation will never end and neither will the low grain prices and high input costs. I would love to see everyone band together and be able to nail down the input guys and grain companies. They make billions off of our 400 hr months but yet farmers are most mad at each other.

Wheatking, you are dreaming in kaleidoscope colours if you think farmers will band together. The small, middle of the road guys might, but the big richest ones will take everything you give them.
Been like that for a long time. Not saying their bad, just the way it is.

Wonder if the public home insurance industry would ever get away with telling someone gee your home burnt down last year so this year we re gonna average the coverage of your new home between it's value and the zero that your burnt home is worth.

Or make you salvage what's left of you old home to build a new one.

Better yet tell a home owner he is only going to get 70 percent of the value minus what you are forced to salvage out of the pile of rubble.

Betcha that would go over well.

House burns down and you can find a couple studs left that you can sell to a farmer and it's minuses off the insurance claim.
