    -1 tonight

    Yikes

That'll kill a lot of freshly emerged canola here that came up in the heat and isn't hardened off.

Not entirely unusual, stressful though it may be.

See the map. Again, there is good reason to be careful seeding sensitive crops too early. There is a good reason the old timers never put canola in the soil until the 20th of May. This kind of risk goes along with the rest of the kind of spring it has been. SF3 would say this is normal. It kind of almost is.

Tried texting you yesterday. You get it, man?

For those who do hurry, I do not mean to be silly, I am just pointing out history, you know?

Three times a charm, for seeding that is. Most of reseeded canola wont be up.

Well, I hate to point it out, but I will. The average 1st killing frost is about sept 15, plus or minus a week for different regions. It's been a long time now since we had a early fall frost. What would a august frost do again ? Time will tell when the best time to seed was, it's not in the bin yet.

well we seeded canola may 23 and up in row so thats well after the 20th . it got broke in 2 nights ago, lol , some froze , alfalfa yellow again , but your right fall frosts are worse than spring frosts . i think its hardened off after today , froze my ass off looking for cutworms ,so far none . lumiderm really looks good can't find any flea beatle bites at all ? i would of thought they had to sample the canola to kill them ?

Lumiderm (and Coragen) in layman's terms put the insects mouth muscles to sleep after thr first bite.

It takes a lot of bites to make visible damage...
