    An 18-year-old Hallam man has been charged with “conspiracy to commit acts done in preparation for, or planning, terrorist acts”.

    Others were held on weapons offences.

    THE RAIDS

    At least 200 officers from the Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police launched raids at 3.30am in a joint counter-terrorist Operation Rising.

    Seven properties targeted at Narre Warren, Hampton Park, Hallam and Eumemmering.

    Heavily armed officers used battering rams to smash their way into homes, before searches.

    Three of five held receiving minor injuries.

    THE REACTION

    PM Tony Abbott has urged Australians to turn out in record numbers to Anzac Day commemorations.

    Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says security will be stepped up at Anzac day events.

    The Australian Federal Police said the threat was “fully contained.”

    Victoria Police acting Deputy Commissioner Tim Cartwright assured the community of its safety."

        Those miserable bastards. Imagine the nerve of these people. Living in a beautiful and free country and wanting to kill and maim innocent people. It's frightening and frankly mind boggling.

          Mallee, what do you think your country will do about the increasing muslim terrorist attacks? Are aussies passive and sympathetic to them ( i think that's where canadians are at ), or do you think your Gov. will become pro-active? I think the world needs a country to stand up for their way of life ( set an example ) hopefully it's you guys!

            Australia is tolerant similar to Canada I would suscpect to tolerant in my opinion. The do gooding minority unfortunately seem to hold all the cards.
            They can live here work here have familys here even practice there beliefs in a moderate way but they must respect our laws and ways
